Columbia, Maryland
Columbia is a census-designated place in Howard County, Maryland. It is one of the principal communities of the Baltimore–Washington metropolitan area. It is a planned community consisting of 10 self-contained villages. Columbia began with the idea that a city could enhance its residents' quality of life. Creator and developer James W. Rouse saw the new community in terms of human values, rather than merely economics and engineering. The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) is the school district that manages and runs the public schools of Howard County, Maryland. It operates under the supervision of an elected, eight-member Board of Education. Antonia Watts is the chair of the board. Michael J. Martirano has served as the superintendent since May 2017. Ron'Dell Lamaree Carter (born July 3, 1997) is an American football defensive end for the Michigan Panthers of the United States Football League (USFL). He played college football at James Madison after transferring from Rutgers in 2017. Early years Carter attended Long Reach High School. He was a two-way player at defensive end and tight end. Darryl Webb (born January 16, 1988) is an American former professional basketball player. Webb played for the IUP Crimson Hawks. He also played professionally in Germany, the Netherlands, Japan and Switzerland. Early years Webb graduated in 2006 at Long Reach High School in Maryland ranked second in school history with 950 points and first with 650 rebounds at the time of his graduation.
