Long Beach Open
The Long Beach Open was a golf tournament on the PGA Tour. It was held in Long Beach, California at the Virginia Country Club from 1926 to 1930 and at the Lakewood Country Club from 1949 to 1951. In 1957 the Long Beach Open was a PGA Satellite Event. In 1989, a revived Long Beach Open came to the El Dorado and Recreation Park golf courses. Since 2006, Skylinks has been on pre-cut rotation, replacing Recreation Park. Troy Grant at the age of 15 is the youngest ever to qualify and make the pro cut. Golf
Golf is a club-and-ball sport in which players use various clubs to hit balls into a series of holes on a course in as few strokes as possible. Golf, unlike most ball games, cannot and does not use a standardized playing area, and coping with the varied terrains encountered on different courses is a key part of the game. Courses typically have either 18 or 9 ''holes'', regions of terrain that each contain a ''cup'', the hole that receives the ball. Each hole on a course contains a teeing ground to start from, and a putting green containing the cup. Peter Tomasulo
Peter Jeffrey Tomasulo (born October 22, 1981) is an American professional golfer who plays on the Web.com Tour. Amateur career Tomasulo was born in Long Beach, California. He attended the University of California, Berkeley and in 2004 was named a first team All-American and captained California's NCAA championship team. In 2003 he set the school's all-time single-season stroke average at 70.98 and played on the U.S. Palmer Cup team that lost 14-10 to Europe. Professional career Tomasulo turned professional in 2004. In 2005 he played on the Canadian Tour and the Nationwide Tour and won once on each tour. He won the Montreal Open on the Canadian Tour and the Alberta Classic on the Nationwide Tour. He also won his hometown Long Beach Open. 2005 was the only year he played on the Canadian Tour but Tomasulo continued to play on the Nationwide Tour until 2008. Steve Jurgensen (born October 27, 1961) is an American professional golfer. Jurgensen was born in San Jose, California. He played college golf one year at the University of Houston. He turned professional in 1985. Jurgensen played on the Nationwide Tour from 1993 to 1995 and in 1997. He won the 1993 Nike Tri-Cities Open. He played on the PGA Tour in 1996, 1998, and 1999. Scott McCarron
Scott Michael McCarron (born July 10, 1965) is an American professional golfer who was formerly a member of the PGA Tour but now plays on the PGA Tour Champions. McCarron was born in Sacramento, California and graduated from Vintage High School in Napa, California. He was a member of the golf team at UCLA, graduating in 1988 with a major in History. Unlike most golfers, McCarron did not transition right away from the college to the professional ranks – he gave up golf for four years (1988–1992) to work with his father in the family golf apparel business. Robert Donald Burns (born April 5, 1968) is an American professional golfer. Burns has played on the PGA Tour and the Nationwide Tour. Early life Burns was born in Mission Hills, California. Burns went to John F. Kennedy High school located in the San Fernando Valley. Amateur career He attended college at Cal State Northridge and was a member of the golf team. He won All-American honors his junior year, and was the individual medalist at the 1990 NCAA Division II Championship. Professional career Burns turned pro in 1991 and joined the PGA Tour in 1994.
