London Buses Route 142
London Buses route 142 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London and Hertfordshire, England. Running between Watford Junction station and Brent Cross bus station, it is operated by London Sovereign. History Route 142 was introduced by the London General Omnibus Company in March 1914. The allocation was transferred to London Country Bus Services' Watford garage, and became part of London Country North West in 1986. It was included in the sale of the business to Luton & District in October 1990 and retained the contract shortly afterwards, ordering 15 new Leyland Olympians to operate the route. The route was retained again in 1995, making it the first route to be retained by its existing operator through two consecutive retenders. When re-tendered, it was retained by Arriva The Shires with new contracts commencing on 5 January 2008 and 5 January 2013. London Sovereign
London Sovereign is a bus company in North London. It is a subsidiary of RATP Dev Transit London and operates buses under contract to Transport for London. Company history London Sovereign can trace its roots back to independent Borehamwood Travel Services which ran a fleet that included ex- Kelvin Central MCW Metrobuses and Northern Counties Palatines bodied Leyland Olympians and a collection of other vehicles. In 1993 it won its biggest London Buses contract, to operate route 13 with leased AEC Routemasters in its orange livery. In August 1994, Borehamwood Travel Services was sold to the Blazefield Group's Sovereign subsidiary, with the two operations merged as Sovereign London. London Country North West was a bus operator in South East England and London. It was formed from the split of London Country Bus Services in 1986, and operated a fleet of around 360 buses from five garages, with its headquarters located in Garston. Burnt Oak is a suburb of London, England, located northwest of Charing Cross. It lies to the west of the M1 motorway between Edgware and Colindale, located predominantly in the London Borough of Barnet, with parts comprising the London Boroughs of Brent and Harrow. Stanmore Tube Station
Stanmore is a London Underground station in Stanmore. It is the northern terminus of the Jubilee line and the next station towards south is Canons Park. The station is on the south side of London Road, part of the A410 and is in Travelcard Zone 5. History Stanmore station was opened on 10 December 1932 by the Metropolitan Railway (now the Metropolitan line). The station building and those on the branch were designed by the Metropolitan Railway's architect, Charles W. Clark, in the suburban style used on the company's other post First World War stations such as those on the Watford branch. Bushey Heath
Bushey is a town in the Hertsmere borough of Hertfordshire in the East of England. It has a population of over 25,000 inhabitants. Bushey Heath is a large neighbourhood south east of Bushey on the boundary with the London Borough of Harrow reaching elevations of above sea level. Bushey is a railway station in Hertfordshire which serves Bushey and Oxhey. It is situated on the West Coast Main Line, north of Harrow & Wealdstone, on an embankment. North of the station, the railway crosses the Colne valley on several viaducts. The station is served by London Northwestern Railway semi-fast trains on the West Coast main line, and by London Overground services on the Watford DC line, a slow local service along the West Coast route. At Bushey, this branches west on a loop to serve Watford High Street railway station, before rejoining the main line at Watford Junction. Go-Ahead London
Go-Ahead London is the trading name used collectively for the London bus operations of the Go-Ahead Group. The name first appeared in August 2008, before which the company had traded under separate names and brands. It is currently (as of 2021) the largest bus operator in Greater London, operating a total of 115 bus routes with a fleet size of 2,210 vehicles under contract to Transport for London.
