Lol Tolhurst
Laurence Andrew "Lol" Tolhurst (born 3 February 1959) is a founding member and the former drummer and keyboardist of English band The Cure - he left the Cure in 1989 and was later involved in the band Presence and his current project, Levinhurst. In 2011, he was temporarily reunited with the Cure for a number of shows playing the band's earlier work. He published his memoir in 2016, ''Cured: The Tale of Two Imaginary Boys''. The book related his childhood in Crawley and his journey within the Cure. Robert Smith (musician)
Robert James Smith (born 21 April 1959) is an English musician. He is the lead singer, guitarist, primary songwriter, and only continuous member of the rock band the Cure, which he co-founded in 1978. He was also the lead guitarist for the band Siouxsie and the Banshees from 1982 to 1984, and was part of the short-lived group the Glove in 1983. Smith is known for his guitar-playing style, distinctive voice, and fashion sense, with the lattera pale complexion, smeared red lipstick, black eye-liner, a dishevelled nest of wiry black hair, and all-black clothesbeing highly influential on the goth subculture that rose to prominence in the 1980s. Inside (Presence Album)
''Inside'' is the debut studio album released by British rock band Presence, released in the UK through Reality Records in 1992, and in the US and Canada through Smash Records, a subsidiary of Island Records, in 1993. Although ''Inside'' was well received by critics, it was a commercial failure, and the band dissolved shortly afterwards. Nevertheless, this band does spark interest among some Cure fans because of the involvement of Lol Tolhurst. In December 2011, this album was made available in MP3 format through Amazon and iTunes. Levinhurst
Levinhurst is an independent music band formed by British musician Lol Tolhurst, a founding member of The Cure, and his wife Cindy Levinson. Levinson provides vocals while Tolhurst writes the majority of the tracks, musically and lyrically, and programmes the drums and keyboards. To date, Levinhurst have released three studio albums - ''Perfect Life'' (2004); ''House by the Sea'' (2007); and ''Blue Star'' (2009) - and two extended plays - '' The Grey'' (2006) and ''Somewhere, Nothing Is Everything'' (2014). Presence were a British rock band started by Gary Biddles, Lol Tolhurst, and Michael Dempsey. Dempsey and Tolhurst were founding members of The Cure, and Biddles was a former Cure roadie who previously played in Fools Dance with Simon Gallup. In their brief existence, the band only recorded two albums. Their debut album, ''Inside'', was released in the UK through Reality Records in 1992 and in the US through Smash Records, a subsidiary of Island Records, in 1993. Fools Dance
Fools Dance were an English rock band active from 1983–1987, chiefly noted for their connection to The Cure. History Fools Dance was formed in Horley, Surrey in 1983 under the name 'The Cry' and consisted of Ian Fuller on vocals, Stuart Curran on guitar, Simon Gallup on bass guitar, Tot on drums, and Matthieu Hartley on keyboards. Shortly after playing their first and only gig as The Cry at the Covent Garden Rock Garden on 19 April 1983, Ian and Tot left. Over the next few months, the band recruited vocalist Gary Biddles and went through a succession of drummers, using drum machines when they had none. Eventually, the group changed their name to 'Fools Can Dance' but shortly after found themselves reduced to a trio once again following the departure of Matthieu Hartley. Simon Gallup
Simon Jonathon Gallup (born 1 June 1960) is an English musician and bassist with the alternative rock band The Cure. He is the second longest-serving member of the band after lead vocalist/guitarist Robert Smith. Early years Born in Duxhurst, Surrey, Simon's family moved to Horley in 1961 where he attended Horley Infants and Junior Schools until 1971, followed by Horley Balcombe Road Comprehensive to 1976. Between 1976 and 1978 he worked in a plastics factory and became the bass player for local punk band Lockjaw, who later evolved into the Magazine Spies (1979–1980), also known as the Mag/Spys. Lockjaw and the Mag/Spys played regular live shows with Easy Cure and later the Cure between 1977 and 1979, and after collaborating in the studio on the Cult Hero recording sessions in October 1979, both Gallup and keyboardist Matthieu Hartley left the Mag/Spys to join the Cure. Disintegration (The Cure Album)
''Disintegration'' is the eighth studio album by English rock band the Cure, released on 2 May 1989 by Fiction Records. The record marks a return to the introspective gothic rock style the band had established in the early 1980s. As he neared the age of 30, vocalist and guitarist Robert Smith had felt an increased pressure to follow up on the band's pop successes with a more enduring work. This, coupled with a distaste for the group's newfound popularity, caused Smith to lapse back into the use of hallucinogenic drugs, the effects of which had a strong influence on the production of the album.
