The 19th Annual ''TV Week'' Logie Awards were presented on Friday 25 March 1977 at Southern Cross Hotel in Melbourne and broadcast on the Nine Network. Bert Newton from the Nine Network was the Master of Ceremonies. American film star Burt Lancaster and television actors Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs, Susan Seaforth and Bill Hayes, British actors Robin Nedwell and Geoffrey Davies, and Australian actor Jack Thompson appeared as guests. Southern Cross Hotel
The Southern Cross Hotel was a hotel in Melbourne, Australia. It was opened by the Prime Minister, Robert Menzies, on 24 August 1962 as Australia's first modern 'International' hotel, heralding the arrival of American-style glamour, the jet-set and international tourism. It occupied a large site on Bourke Street in central Melbourne, formerly occupied by the grand Eastern Market, and was the premier hotel in the city into the early 1980s. The Southern Cross was the preferred hotel for celebrities in this period, most famously The Beatles in 1964, and the ballroom was the preferred location for locally and nationally important events. Closed in 1995 and partly demolished, the hotel tower remained standing and vacant until its demolition in 2003. Kate Jackson
Lucy Kate Jackson (born October 29, 1948) is an American actress and television producer, known for her television roles as Sabrina Duncan in the series '' Charlie's Angels'' (1976–1979) and Amanda King in the series ''Scarecrow and Mrs. King'' (1983–1987). Rosalind Speirs (born 1951) is an Australian former film and television actress. She starred on several television series during the 1970s, including '' Silent Number'', ' and the television miniseries ''Power Without Glory''. Martin Kevin Vaughan (5 June 1931 – October 2022) was an Australian stage, television and film actor and musician. Michael Hayden Walsh (born 5 March 1938) is an Australian former radio and television presenter, currently focused on owning and operating live theatres, and theatre production both locally and the United Kingdom. Walsh was the first "King of Australian Daytime TV", with his program ''The Mike Walsh Show'', featuring both local and international guests, including Hollywood performers. The Don Lane Show
''The Don Lane Show'' was an Australian television talk show which aired twice a week on the Nine Network from 1975 to 1983. The show was created by Don Lane who co-hosted it with Bert Newton. Channel Nine was reluctant to cast Bert Newton, who had been associated with Graham Kennedy, but Lane insisted that he wanted Newton to do the show. The theme music of the show, "You Make It So Easy", was written by Helen Reddy. Legacy The show became one of the most popular talks shows in Australian television history.
