''Loaded'' is the second studio album by American rapper Brotha Lynch Hung, released on September 16, 1997 by Blackmarket Records. The album features guest appearances from Kokane, E-40 and Ice-T, and is the first album on which Lynch would collaborate with producer Phonk Beta, a partnership that would continue on his future albums. Kevin Danell Mann (born January 10, 1970), better known by his stage name Brotha Lynch Hung, is an American rapper, songwriter and record producer from Sacramento, California who has been described as "the creator of horrorcore rap." He is also a former 24th Street Garden Blocc Crip gang member which is a Crip affiliated street gang based in Meadowview, Sacramento. Early life Mann grew up in Sacramento. He became a fan of east coast rappers such as Rakim and Slick Rick. He started rapping at the age of 13. He became a member of the 24 Street Garden Blocc Crips by age 16 during the 1980s. He was once shot in the side after trying to break up a confrontation between a Crip and a Blood at a house party; the bullet was never removed. Gangsta Rap
Gangsta rap or gangster rap, initially called reality rap, emerged in the mid- to late 1980s as a controversial hip-hop subgenre whose lyrics assert the culture and values typical of American street gangs and street hustlers. Many gangsta rappers flaunt associations with real street gangs, like the Crips and Bloods. Gangsta rap's pioneers Ice-T in 1986, and especially N.W.A in 1988 and the rise of Tupac Amaru Shakur in 1992. G-funk
G-funk, short for gangsta funk, is a sub-genre of gangsta rap that emerged from the West Coast scene in the late 1980s. The genre is heavily influenced by 1970s psychedelic funk (P-funk) sound of artists such as Parliament-Funkadelic. Characteristics G-funk (which uses funk with an artificially altered tempo) incorporates multi-layered and melodic synthesizers, slow hypnotic grooves, a deep bass, heavy use of the snare drum, background female vocals, the extensive sampling of P-Funk tunes, and a high-pitched portamento saw wave synthesizer lead. It is typically set at a tempo of anywhere between 80 to 100 BPM. The lyrical content depended on the artist and could consist of sex, drug use (especially marijuana), love for a city/neighborhood, love for friends and relaxing words. Horrorcore
Horrorcore, also called horror hip hop, horror rap, death hip hop, or death rap, is a subgenre of hip hop music based on horror-themed and often darkly transgressive lyrical content and imagery. Its origins derived from certain hardcore hip hop and gangsta rap artists, such as the Geto Boys, which began to incorporate supernatural, occult, and psychological horror themes into their lyrics. Unlike most hardcore hip hop and gangsta rap artists, horrorcore artists often push the violent content and imagery in their lyrics beyond the realm of realistic urban violence, to the point where the violent lyrics become gruesome, ghoulish, unsettling, inspired by slasher films or splatter films. ''Season of da Siccness: The Resurrection'' is the debut studio album by American rapper Brotha Lynch Hung, released on February 28, 1995, by Black Market Records. Background Mann recorded and mixed the album in 1994 at Enharmonic Studio, Sacramento, California. The album is dedicated to Q-Ball (as stated in the album booklet), Mann's cousin who was murdered around the time of the album's creation. The song 'Liquor Sicc' touches on subjects of dealing with his death and retaliation. Personnel on the album include Brotha Lynch Hung, Mr. Doctor, Ron Foster, X-Raided, Zigg Zagg, Zoe, Sicx, Hyst, and Babe Reg. Mann has stated that he produced, mixed and mastered the entire album himself, which to this day is the only album in which he has done this. ''EBK4'' is the third studio album by American rapper Brotha Lynch Hung, released through Blackmarket Records on June 27, 2000, as a follow-up to 1997's '' Loaded''. Some of the songs on the album were not completed (did not have all the verses recorded, etc.) in time for the release date. Due to disputes with the record label over this and other issues, Black Market released the album without the consent of Brotha Lynch Hung, featuring other artists off the label to complete unfinished songs where extra verses were needed. Lynch has mentioned that prior to the album’s release, a home invasion took place during which the thieves had taken songs still in progress, most of which appear on this album.
