Llyn Traffwll
Llyn Traffwll is a 91 acre natural lake located, in Anglesey, Wales. Located midway between the villages of Rhosneigr and Valley it lies less than a kilometre south of the A55 North Wales Expressway. It is one of the largest natural lake on the island with Llyn Alaw and Llyn Cefni both being reservoirs. Along with the surrounding smaller lakes it is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and is adjacent to the Valley Wetlands RSPB site. Formerly (starting in 1866) the lake was used to supply water to Holyhead by the Holyhead Water Company, and to aid water management a small dam was built which still exists. In late 2019 it was reported that a 300 acre Photovoltaic power station called ''Parc Solar Traffwl'' was planned to be constructed near the lake. William David Owen
William David Owen (21 October 1874 – 4 November 1925), born William Owen, was a Welsh author best known for his novel ''Madam Wen'' (White Lady). Publications ''Madam Wen'' was published in book form in 1925, but it had first appeared as a serial in the Welsh-language newspaper ''y Genedl Gymraeg'' (The Welsh Nation) in 1914. The first printed English edition of the story was published in an abridged form in October 2009, in a biographical work about the author by T. T. M. Hale, entitled ''The Rhosneigr Romanticist''. There had been an earlier English translation of ''Madam Wen'', which was handwritten and bound into a book by one named Richard Parry in 1937. Holyhead
Holyhead (,; cy, Caergybi , "Cybi's fort") is the largest town and a community in the county of Isle of Anglesey, Wales, with a population of 13,659 at the 2011 census. Holyhead is on Holy Island, bounded by the Irish Sea to the north, and is separated from Anglesey island by the narrow Cymyran Strait and was originally connected to Anglesey via the Four Mile Bridge. In the mid-19th century, Lord Stanley, a local philanthropist, funded the building of a larger causeway, known locally as "The Cobb", it now carries the A5 and the railway line. Valley Wetlands
Valley Wetlands ( cy, Gwlyptiroedd y Fali), formerly Valley Lakes, is a nature reserve in Anglesey, Wales belonging to the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. It is an area of lakes and reedbeds to the south-east of Valley in Llanfair-yn-Neubwll community, adjacent to RAF Valley airfield. The western section of the reserve includes Llyn Penrhyn, Llyn Treflesg and part of Llyn Dinam. The eastern part includes Llyn Traffwll and wetlands along the Afon Crigyll. Much of the reserve is included within two Sites of Special Scientific Interest. Breeding birds include good numbers of sedge and reed warblers which have been joined in recent years by Cetti's warbler. Several species of duck breed including shoveler, gadwall and pochard. A55 Road (Great Britain)
The A55, also known as the North Wales Expressway ( cy, Gwibffordd Gogledd Cymru) is a major road in Wales and England, connecting Cheshire and north Wales. The vast majority of its length from Chester to Holyhead is a dual carriageway primary route, with the exception of the Britannia Bridge over the Menai Strait and several short sections where there are gaps in between the two carriageways. All junctions are grade separated apart from a roundabout east of Penmaenmawr and another nearby in Llanfairfechan. Initially, the road ran from Chester to Bangor.
