Llucmajor (; es, Lluchmayor) is the largest municipality (in terms of surface area) of the Balearic Island of Mallorca. There are sixteen urban settlements in the municipality, including the town of Llucmajor and the coastal areas of s'Arenal, Cala Blava and Cala Pi. Battle Of Llucmajor
The Battle of Llucmajor ( ca, Batalla de Llucmajor; ) occurred in 1349 when Peter IV of Aragon's forces defeated and killed his cousin James III of Majorca in the town of Llucmajor on the Balearic Islands, resulting in the end of the independent Kingdom of Majorca. Background In 1343, Peter IV of Aragon sought to expand his kingdom of Aragon towards Greece. However, his ships were unable to pass through Majorcan waters. To rectify this, Peter IV launched a war against the Majorcans, landing an army in Santa Ponsa, while also attacking northward into Majorcan-controlled Cerdanya and Roussillon, conquering them by 1345. Expedition Peter IV created a force of 16 ships: Eight galleys, six ushers, a carrack and a log. He disembarked at Cap de Formentor on 11 October 1349. The remainder of the fleet sailed to Mallorca. James III Of Majorca
James III ( – ), known as James the Rash (or the Unfortunate), was King of Majorca from 1324 to 1344. He was the son of Ferdinand of Majorca and Isabella of Sabran. Life James was born in Catania, Sicily. Margaret of Villehardouin, James's maternal grandmother, fought to reclaim the Principality of Achaea from the Angevins of the Kingdom of Naples. Isabella died soon after the childbirth, and James was proclaimed Prince of Achaea under the guardianship of his father. Ferdinand invaded the Morea in an effort to bring the principality under his control, but was killed in the Battle of Manolada in 1316. Despite this setback, from 1331 the feudal lords of Achaea began to recognise the rights of James, and in 1333 the recognition was total, though the Angevin heirs of Philip I of Taranto continued to press their claim. The Kingdom of Majorca ( ca, Regne de Mallorca, ; es, Reino de Mallorca; la, Regnum Maioricae; french: Royaume de Majorque) was a realm on the east coast of Spain, which included certain Mediterranean islands, and which was founded by James I of Aragon, also known as ''James The Conqueror''.
