Live From Dakota
''Live from Dakota'' is the first live album by Welsh rock band Stereophonics. It is a 2-disc compilation featuring 20 tracks spanning the first five of the band's albums and capturing the best of their 2005 world tour. Rather than being a recording of single show, every night of the tour was recorded and the band picked out the best version of each song individually. The album title is therefore not literal, but references the name of their first UK number one single. In the UK it was released on V2, whereas the American release it was released on Vox Populi Records, the band's own imprint label. Stereophonics
Stereophonics are a Welsh rock band formed in 1992 in the village of Cwmaman in the Cynon Valley, Wales. The band consists of Kelly Jones (lead vocals, lead guitar, keyboards), Richard Jones (bass guitar, harmonica, backing vocals), Adam Zindani (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Jamie Morrison (drums, percussion) and touring member Tony Kirkham (keyboards). The group previously included Stuart Cable (1992–2003) and then Javier Weyler (2004–2012) on drums. Stereophonics have released twelve studio albums, including eight UK number one albums. A successful compilation album, ''Decade in the Sun'', was released in November 2008 and charted at number two on the UK Album Chart. "Just Looking" is a song by Welsh rock band Stereophonics, issued as the second single from their second album, ''Performance and Cocktails'' (1999). It was released on 22 February 1999, reaching number four on the UK Singles Chart and number 18 in Ireland. In 2022, it was certified gold by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) for sales and streams of over 400,000. Madame Helga
"Madame Helga" is a song by Welsh rock band Stereophonics from their fourth studio album, '' You Gotta Go There to Come Back'' (2003). It was inspired by the band's stay at Helga's Folly while they were on tour in Sri Lanka in 2002. The folly is owned by Helga Desilva Blow Perera, from whom the title "Madame Helga" originated. Released as a single on 19 May 2003, the song reached number four on the UK Singles Chart and number 15 on the Irish Singles Chart the same month. "Local Boy in the Photograph" is the first single by rock band Stereophonics. The song is taken from their debut album, ''Word Gets Around'' and was released on 17 March 1997. "Devil" is the third single from Welsh rock band Stereophonics' fifth studio album, '' Language. Sex. Violence. Other?'' (2005). The song is the fourth track on the album, on which "Brother" fades into this song. On the ''Live from Dakota'' album, prior to playing "Devil", Kelly Jones states the song is "inspired by the movies of Charles Bukowski". The single peaked at number 11 on the UK Singles Chart. Music video The music video for this song shows Kelly Jones in a hotel room, tied to a chair. A woman arrives and appears to be the kidnapper. Stuart Cable
Stuart James Cable (19 May 1970 – 7 June 2010) was a Welsh rock drummer and broadcaster, best known as the original drummer for the band Stereophonics. Early life Cable was born in Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf, on 19 May 1970. When he was 10, his father died. Thereafter, Cable and his elder brother, Paul, were raised by their mother Mabel (born 1930) on her own. Cable grew up in the close-knit village of Cwmaman near Aberdare, He attended Blaengwawr Comprehensive School with his friend, Stereophonics singer-songwriter and guitarist Kelly Jones, who also lived on the same street. Career Stereophonics Together with Kelly Jones' school friend Richard Jones, the trio began playing covers in working men's clubs from 1992, under the title ''Tragic Love Company.''
