''Live at Hammersmith'' is a live album by the British hard rock band The Darkness. The album was released on 15 June 2018 and is the first live album the band has released. Background The album and the track listing was announced on 25 April 2018. The album is a live recording of the full setlist from the band's performance at the Eventim Apollo in London in December 2017, with mastering done by band member Dan Hawkins. People who pre-ordered the album instantly received the promo-singles ‘Buccaneers of Hispaniola’ and 'I Believe in a Thing Called Love'. The Darkness (band)
The Darkness are a British rock band formed in Lowestoft, England. The band consists of Justin Hawkins (lead vocals, lead guitar), his brother Dan Hawkins (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Frankie Poullain (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Rufus Tiger Taylor (drums, backing vocals). The Darkness came to prominence with the release of their debut album, ''Permission to Land'', in 2003. Backed by the singles "I Believe in a Thing Called Love", "Growing on Me", "Get Your Hands off My Woman", and "Love Is Only a Feeling", the album was certified quadruple platinum in the United Kingdom, with sales of over 1.3 million. In 2004 the band won three Brit Awards: Best British Group, Best British Rock Act, and Best British Album. "Get Your Hands off My Woman" is the debut single by the English rock band the Darkness. The song was released in February 2003 as the lead single from the group's debut studio album, ''Permission to Land''. Although the single went on to win a ''Metal Hammer'' " Golden God" award for best single, it has become the band's lowest charting single worldwide. Credited to all four members of the group, the song supposedly reflected personal experiences of lead vocalist Justin Hawkins. "Get Your Hands off My Woman" became a sing-along favourite at concerts by the Darkness, in part due to its parodic obscenity. The song was covered by Ben Folds on his 2004 EP '' Super D''. Rufus Tiger Taylor (born 8 March 1991) is an English musician, best known as the drummer for British rock band The Darkness since May 2015, and as a touring drummer for the Queen + Adam Lambert stage shows. He is the son of Queen drummer Roger Taylor. Early life Taylor was born on 8 March 1991 in London, to Queen drummer Roger Taylor and his longtime girlfriend Deborah Leng. According to his father, Rufus' unusual middle name "Tiger" was chosen by the late Queen lead singer Freddie Mercury. Francis Gilles Poullain-Patterson (born 15 April 1967), better known as Frankie Poullain, is the bassist, bass player for rock band The Darkness (band), The Darkness. He was raised in Milnathort then Edinburgh, Scotland. He attended the Royal High School, Edinburgh, Royal High School, leaving in 1985. Poullain was the only original Darkness member not from the Lowestoft area. Poullain left the band on 23 May 2005, citing "musical differences" as the reason. He was replaced by Richie Edwards, a former guitar technician for the band. Justin David Hawkins (born 17 March 1975) is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and YouTube personality best known for being the founder, lead singer, and lead guitarist of The Darkness. Hard Rock
Hard rock or heavy rock is a loosely defined subgenre of rock music typified by aggressive vocals and distorted electric guitars.
