Live At Gray Matters
''Live at Gray Matters'' is a series of digital-only EP releases by Christian rock act Jars of Clay. The premise of the series is for each release to have a theme and each contain around 4–5 tracks. The songs featured on the EPs were recorded in an informal setting at the band's own record label, Gray Matters, and contains little to no editing of the tracks. A video accompanies each EP that shows the band performing the tracks. The cover of each recording features an identical photograph, varying only in background color. Vol. 1: Songs from ''The Long Fall Back to Earth'' Volume 1 of the series features five cuts from the band's 2009 release ''The Long Fall Back to Earth'', including the lead single " Two Hands". The songs "The Long Fall" and "Weapons" have typically been performed together as one song in concerts and are featured that way here on the EP. ''Jars of Clay'' is the first full-length studio album by Christian rock group Jars of Clay. It was released on October 24, 1995, by Essential Records. The album was released to commercial and critical acclaim, becoming one of the few Christian albums in the mid-1990s to achieve platinum status. Overview Jars of Clay's eponymous first full-length album is characterized by a combination of drum loops and acoustic guitar strumming that would become an early trademark of the band. Strings are also used prominently in most of the songs. The album features sonic influences as diverse as Gregorian chants, mandolin, and gothic layered vocals. The album was mostly self-produced, with the exception of "Liquid" and "Flood" which were produced by King Crimson guitarist Adrian Belew. Annie Hawks (May 28, 1836 - January 3, 1918) was an American poet and gospel hymnist who wrote a number of hymns with her pastor, Robert Lowry (hymn writer), Robert Lowry. ''Christmas Songs'' is the eighth full-length studio album and first Christmas album from Jars of Clay, that was released on October 16, 2007, through Gray Matters/Nettwerk. This is the first ever release from the band through their newly created Gray Matters imprint via Nettwerk Music Group. Background In 2006, Jars of Clay began to seek a new recording contract as their then-current contract with Sony BMG's Christian sub-label Essential Records was due to end a few releases later. The group then decided to create their own label named Gray Matters and formed a partnership with the label and imprint label Nettwerk.
