Liudas Gira
Liudas Gira (27 August 1884 in Vilnius – 1 July 1946 in Vilnius) was a Lithuanian poet, writer, and literary critic. His is noted for his early poetry, which resembles traditional Lithuanian folk songs. Gira was active in cultural and political life, gradually shifting towards communism in 1930s. He supported the Soviet Union and helped to transform independent Lithuania into the Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic. His son, Vytautas Sirijos Gira, is also a known poet and writer. Biography In 1905, Gira graduated from the Vilnius Theological Seminary, but was not ordained into priesthood. He was active in cultural and political life. Gira participated in the Great Seimas of Vilnius. He was one of the founders of the Lithuanian Populists' Union and one of the leaders of the Lithuanian Christian Democratic Party. Liudas Jakavičius-Grimalauskas (10 August 1910, Riga, Latvia – 3 July 1998, Buenos Aires, Argentina) was a Lithuanian pianist, composer and theatre director. He was son of the writer and banker and Liudvikas Jakavičius and of Honorata Grimalauskaitė-Jakavičienė, daughter of . Early life Liudas Jakavičius-Grimalauskas was the son of Lithuanians, but he was born in Riga, Latvia where his father had all his business. The Jakavičius-Grimalauskas family was one of the most prominent families in Latvia. Liudas Jakavičius-Grimalauskas began studying drama and music with private tutors at the age four and graduated as pianist from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (Kaunas Conservatoire). He was a disciple of the noted composer, pianist and educator Dmitry Kabalevsky. Liudas Rumbutis ( be, Людас Румбуціс; russian: Людас Румбутис; born 24 November 1955) is a Lithuanian– Belarusian professional football coach and a former player. After spending his youth and early senior football career years in Lithuania, he moved to Belarus in 1975, and stayed there for his almost entire playing and coaching career. Liudas Vaineikis
Liudas Vaineikis (31 August 1869 – 17 January 1938) was a physician and notable member of the Lithuanian book smuggling movement during the Lithuanian press ban (1864–1904). Already as a student at Mitau Gymnasium, Vaineikis joined the Lithuanian National Revival. He studied medicine at Moscow University but was expelled when he was arrested together with member of Atgaja Society which he helped establishing in 1889. He managed to complete his degree at Kazan University and moved to Palanga to work as a physician. He continued to be involved in Lithuanian cultural life and smuggle illegal Lithuanian and social democratic publications. In 1899, he managed to obtain a government permit for ''America in the Bathhouse'' (''Amerika pirtyje''), the first Lithuanian-language theater performance in present-day Lithuania. Liudas Vilimas
Liudas Vilimas (September 15, 1912 in Kušlėnai, Russian Empire (now Lithuania) – August 22, 1966 in Cleveland, Ohio) was a Lithuanian painter. His works included book illustrations, theatrical decorations, paintings, postal stamps, window showcases. His earlier works are expressionist, while later have features of abstractionism. While in Lithuania, he favored watercolors later transitioning to oil paintings and figure compositions. In 1935, he graduated from Kaunas School of Arts. In 1938 he continued his studies in the Academy of Applied Arts Vienna, Austria. In 1940, he helped to establish Panevėžys Drama Theatre and was its chief decorator. After moving to Vilnius, he lectured at Vilnius Academy of Art and became director of Museum of Red Terror, which collected evidence of Soviet persecutions during the first Soviet occupation of Lithuania.
