Little White Lie (2008 Film)
''Little White Lie'' is a feature-length IFTA-nominated Irish television romantic drama television film broadcast on RTÉ One on 4 August 2008 at 21:30. It stars Andrew Scott and Elaine Cassidy. The drama follows the journey of a dejected actor (Scott) as he searches for love after being discarded by his highflying girlfriend. The title comes from the fact that the main character tells one to his new girlfriend (Cassidy) - that he is a psychiatrist instead of an actor. ''Little White Lie'' is written by Stuart Carolan and Barry Murphy and directed by Nick Renton. Stuart Carolan ( ga, Stuart Ó Cearbhalláin) is an Irish screenwriter, producer, and playwright. He is best known for creating, executive producing, and writing the crime drama '' Love/Hate''. Career Theater His 2004 play ''Defender of the Faith'' was produced at the Abbey Theatre and won the George Devine award for Best New Play in the UK & Ireland. His subsequent play ''The Empress of India'' was a commission from the Druid Theatre Company and directed by Tony award winner Garry Hynes. ''Whistleblower'' is a two-part Irish television IFTA-winning fact-based drama, broadcast on RTÉ One for two consecutive nights in 2008, which focuses on the Michael Neary scandal that first erupted in the 1990s. Neary, a retired Irish consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist, gained notoriety when it was discovered that he had performed what was considered an inordinate number of caesarian hysterectomies during his time at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, County Louth. ''Whistleblower'' follows the obstacles encountered by a midwife Louise ( Emma Stansfield) as she blows the whistle on Neary ( Stanley Townsend)'s irregular obstetric practices. Choice Music Prize
The Choice Music Prize (), known for sponsorship reasons as the RTÉ Choice Music Prize is an annual music prize awarded to the best album from a band or solo musician who is born in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland or holds an Irish passport. For bands, the majority of members must have been born in the island of Ireland or hold an Irish passport. Since it first began in 2005, the main awards ceremony had been broadcast live on the Irish independent and national radio station, Today FM, every March with the exception of the 2014 ceremony which took place on 27 February 2014 and it is also held in Vicar Street, Dublin with the exception of the 2012 ceremony which was held in the Olympia Theatre (Dublin).
