Little Teachers
''Little Teachers'' ( it, I piccoli maestri) is a 1998 Italian war drama film written and directed by Daniele Luchetti. Based on the novel ''I piccoli maestri'' by Luigi Meneghello, it entered the main competition at the 55th Venice International Film Festival. Plot Autumn of 1943: a group of university students from Vicenza opposes the Nazi invasion by joining the partisans at the plateau of the Sette Comuni. Soon, however, the youngsters realize that they are unable to face the horrors of war and receive the support of a worker, a sailor, a sergeant of the alpini and their esteemed professor, Toni Giuriolo. Daniele Luchetti
Daniele Luchetti (; born 25 July 1960) is an Italian film director, screenwriter and actor. Life and career Luchetti was born in Rome. He debuted as assistant director for Nanni Moretti in ''Bianca'' (1983) and ''The Mass Is Ended'' (1985). Luchetti's first film as director was ''It's Happening Tomorrow'' of 1988, which won a David di Donatello as best debuting film and received a mention in the 1988 Cannes Film Festival. His subsequent work was the successful ''The Yes Man'' (1991), featuring Silvio Orlando as the ghost-writer of a ruthless politician, played by Nanni Moretti. It was seen as a forecast of the Mani Pulite corruption scandal that struck Italy the following year. The film won four David di Donatello awards. Sette Comuni
The ( cim, Siben Komoin, italic=no, german: Sieben Gemeinden, italic=no) are seven that formed a Cimbrian enclave in the Veneto region of north-east Italy. The area is also known as the or Asiago Plateau, and it was the site of many battles during World War I. The most important is that of Asiago, for which Asiago cheese is named. Cimbrian, a dialect of Upper German, was the native tongue, and the area was ethnically and culturally distinct from the surrounding comuni. The Sette Comuni are located in mountainous territory, ranging from 500 to 2300 metres above sea level. Comuni History The seven comuni formed into a loose commonwealth in 1310. They were historically under the suzerainty of the Milanese House of Visconti and then under the Republic of Venice. Under both they enjoyed wide cultural and political autonomy in exchange for their loyalty. Marco Paolini (born March 5, 1956) is an Italian stage actor, theatre director, dramaturge and author. Personal background Paolini is the son of a railroad engineer and a housewife from Belluno, Italy. In the 1970s, he moved to Treviso and started working in theatre. Giorgio Pasotti (born 22 June 1973) is an Italian actor and former martial arts athlete.
