Little River (Moroka River, Victoria)
The Little River is a perennial river of the Mitchell River catchment, located in the Alpine region of the Australian state of Victoria. Victorian Alps
The Victorian Alps, also known locally as the High Country, is a large mountain system in the southeastern Australian state of Victoria. Occupying the majority of eastern Victoria, it is the southwestern half of the Australian Alps (the other half being the Snowy Mountains), the tallest portion of the Great Dividing Range. The Yarra and Dandenong Ranges, both sources of rivers and drinking waters for Melbourne (Victoria's capital, largest city and home to three quarters of the state's population), are branches of the Victorian Alps. Alpine National Park
The Alpine National Park is a national park located in the Central Highlands and Alpine regions of Victoria, Australia. The national park is located northeast of Melbourne. It is the largest National Park in Victoria, and covers much of the higher areas of the Great Dividing Range in Victoria, including Victoria's highest point, Mount Bogong at and the associated subalpine woodland and grassland of the Bogong High Plains. The park's north-eastern boundary is along the border with New South Wales, where it abuts the Kosciuszko National Park. East Gippsland Catchment Management Authority
The Catchment Management Authorities (CMAs) were established in Victoria under the ''Catchment and Land Protection Act 1994''. Originally known as Catchment and Land Protection Boards, the CMAs were changed to their present name in 1997. A stream is a continuous body of surface water flowing within the bed and banks of a channel. Avon Wilderness Park
The Avon Wilderness Park is a protected area in the southern part of the Victorian Alps, located in Australia. Location and features The reserve is contiguous with the southern border of the Alpine National Park and was declared in 1987. It protects of mountain ash and sub-alpine woodlands. Although there are no walking or vehicle tracks inside the park, hiking is possible with the use of topographic maps. The nearest point of access is via Licola. Along with Big Desert Wilderness Park and Wabba Wilderness Park, it is one of three such parks in Victoria, managed by Parks Victoria. A perennial stream is a stream that has continuous flow of surface water throughout the year in at least parts of its catchment during seasons of normal rainfall, Water Supply Paper 494. as opposed to intermittent river, one whose flow is intermittent. In the absence of irregular, prolonged or extreme drought, a perennial stream is a watercourse, or segment, element or emerging body of water which continually delivers groundwater. For example, an damming, artificial disruption of stream, variability in flow or stream selection associated with the activity in hydropower installations, do not affect this status. Perennial streams do not include stagnant water (stream pool, pools and puddle, waterholes), reservoirs, oxbow lake, cutoff lakes and ponds that persist throughout the year.
