Little Mountain is a hill in the northeastern region of the U.S. state of Ohio, located on the border between Chardon Township in Geauga County and Concord Township in Lake County, with an elevation of . Along with nearby Gildersleeve Mountain, Brown Mountain, and Thompson Ledges, it is located along the northern ridge of an extension of the Allegheny Plateau. The first permanent settler arrived at Little Mountain in 1815. In the late 19th Century, a resort was located near the summit; it has been the location of various hotels, the first built in 1831, the last demolished in 1925. Little Mountain is a monadnock that is the highest point in the Midlands region of South Carolina. It has an elevation of 813 feet (247 m) above mean sea level and is located in southeastern Newberry County, about 25 miles from Columbia. Little Mountain is a town in Newberry County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 291 at the 2010 census. The town took its name from nearby Little Mountain. History The mountain is a monadnock, which is an isolated mountain or rock that has resisted the process of erosion and stands alone in an otherwise flat area. The Little Mountain Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. Early history The mountain was referred to as Ruff's Mountain until sometime in the 1800s. It was part of Lexington County until 1917, when the current border was established. Property in this area was not recorded in the Newberry County tax records until some time in the 1920s. The Eastern side of the mountain was once owned by Sam Birge, and later Arthur Kohn. Little Mountain Pictograph Site is a historic archaeological site located near Blackstone, Nottoway County, Virginia. It is a winter solstice observation site that probably dates post-1400 AD and is Mississippian. It was recorded and published by the Virginia Rockart Survey. The three glyphs are located inside a cave or shallow shelter. They are a track glyph, hand glyph, and undefined glyph that appears to be a sun. The glyphs are in shadow all year except during the winter solstice, when the sun travels far enough south to illuminate the inside of the wall containing the glyphs. Little Mountain Sound Studios is a music recording facility in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. During the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, it was the most successful recording studio in Western Canada and the home for many years to producers Bruce Fairbairn and Bob Rock. It recorded albums by Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, AC/DC, Metallica, Bryan Adams, Mötley Crüe, David Lee Roth, Loverboy, and the Cult, among many others.
