Little Britain Merchants
The Little Britain Merchants are a junior C ice hockey team based in Little Britain, Ontario, Canada. They played in the Central Ontario Junior C Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association until the 2016–17 season when the league became the Orr Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League. History The Little Britain Merchants were founded in 1978 as members of the Southern Counties Junior D Hockey League. In 1984, the Merchants move to the Central Lakeshore Junior C Hockey League. Two year later, the league merged with the Quinte-St. Lawrence Junior C Hockey League and formed the Central Ontario Junior C Hockey League. The expansion of the Merchants was to fill the void left by the folding of the Stouffville Clippers. The Merchants advanced to the Central Lakeshore Final that season where they would be swept by the Bowmanville Eagles who went on to the Clarence Schmalz Cup semifinals. Provincial Junior Hockey League
The Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) is a Canadian junior ice hockey league spanning parts of Southern Ontario. The PJHL is the third tier of the Ontario Hockey Association and is sanctioned by the Ontario Hockey Federation and Hockey Canada. The league was formed in 2016 with the merging of eight Junior C leagues. PJHL teams compete for the Clarence Schmalz Cup. Stouffville () is the primary urban area within the town of Whitchurch-Stouffville in York Region, Ontario, Canada. It is situated within the Greater Toronto Area and the inner ring of the Golden Horseshoe. Clarington Eagles
The Clarington Eagles are a Canadian Junior ice hockey team based in Clarington, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Orr Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League. History The Eagles were founded in 2011 to leave the gap in their community left by the folding of the Junior A Bowmanville Eagles. Bowmanville originated in Junior C from 1968 until 1995 and was promoted to Junior A. The team folded in 2010. The Eagles played their first game on September 23, 2011 in Uxbridge, Ontario. The Eagles dropped a 6-4 decision to the Uxbridge Bruins. Their first home game was on September 25, 2011, a 6-3 loss to the Bruins. On October 2, 2011, the Eagles won their first game, at home, 3-2 against the Little Britain Merchants. The Eagles' first season back in Junior C ended with a winning 19-18-3 record. The Lakefield Chiefs are a Canadian Junior ice hockey team based in Lakefield, Ontario, Canada. They played in the Central Ontario Junior C Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association until the 2016-17 season when this league became the Orr Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League History The Lakefield Chiefs emerged in the late 1970s as members of the Eastern Junior D Hockey League. Napanee Raiders
The Napanee Raiders are a Junior ice hockey team based in Napanee, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association. History The current Napanee Junior C hockey team found its genesis in the 1960s as a member of the Eastern Junior C Hockey League when the team was known as the Napanee Red Wings and later the Napanee Legion. In 1966 the team changed its name to the Napanee Kelly Tiremen, a name that remained with the team through to the 1980 season. Napanee made several appearances in the Clarence Schmalz Cup playoffs during this era advancing to the cup final in 1963, semi-finals in 1966 and 1967 and the quarter-finals in 1968. The Port Perry Lumberjacks are a Junior ice hockey team that play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League and based in Port Perry, Ontario, Canada. History The Port Perry Lumberjacks joined the Central Lakeshore Junior C Hockey League in 1972 as the Port Perry Flamingos named after their sponsor, Flamingo Tarts. The Uxbridge Bruins are a Junior ice hockey team based in Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada. They play in thePJHL Provincial Junior Hockey League History The Uxbridge Bruins joined the Central Ontario Junior C Hockey League in 1975. The Glanbrook Rangers are a Junior ice hockey team based in Glanbrook, Ontario, Canada. They are playing in the Provincial Junior Hockey League. Clarence Schmalz Cup
The Clarence Schmalz Cup is the Ontario Hockey Association's Junior "C" ice hockey championship and championship trophy. The champions of the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) are awarded the Cup. The PJHL was formed in 2016 from the former 8 provincial leagues that previously competed in a tournament, commonly called the All-Ontario Championships, to determine the winner of the Cup. Tubby Schmalz The trophy was named in honour of Clarence "Tubby" Schmalz, an administrator from Walkerton, Ontario. He served as the Ontario Hockey Association president from 1969 to 1972. In 1974, the Major Junior A program began operating independently of the association as the Ontario Major Junior Hockey League; Schmalz became the league's first commissioner, a post he held until 1978. The Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) is the governing body for the majority of junior and senior level ice hockey teams in the Province of Ontario. The OHA is sanctioned by the Ontario Hockey Federation along with the Northern Ontario Hockey Association. Little Britain, Ontario
Little Britain is a compact rural community in the City of Kawartha Lakes, Ontario, Canada. It is located southwest of Lindsay. Formerly a part of Mariposa Township and Victoria County, Little Britain is now part of Ward 4, City of Kawartha Lakes. History Little Britain was established in 1834 by Harrison Haight who built the first mill in 1837. This mill, which stood until 1910, took nearly the whole countryside to build. At the time, there was no road that led from Little Britain to Oakwood, located to the north. The first church was built in 1850, followed by the Bible Church in 1852. The Post Office came in 1853. Names suggested for the town were ''Margaretville'', after Margaret Metherell, and ''Elm Grove'', proposed by the first postmaster, Robert Fergusson Whiteside. Central Ontario Junior C Hockey League
The Central Ontario Junior C Hockey League was a junior ice hockey league in Ontario, Canada, sanctioned by the Ontario Hockey Association. The "Central" played inter-league games with the Empire Junior "C" League. The champion of the Central competed for the All-Ontario Championship and the Clarence Schmalz Cup. The league is now a division in the Provincial Junior Hockey League. History In 1970, the Suburban Junior C Hockey League divided into two leagues. Most of the westerly teams formed the Mid-Ontario Junior B Hockey League, while most of the easterly teams formed the Central Lakeshore Junior C League.
