Lita Chevret
Lita Chevret (May 27, 1908 – May 23, 2001) was an American actress who began her career at the genesis of sound films. She appeared in over 60 films between 1929 and 1940, although in most of those she had small or non-billed parts. Life Chevret was born on May 27, 1908 in Oakland, California, to show-business parents, who ensured that she received training in both singing and dance. Career Chevret began acting with a stock theater company when she was 16 years old. She also appeared in Berkeley productions of Irving Pichel and in Fanchon and Marco revues. Based on her dancing ability, Chevret broke into the film business in 1929's ''Fox Movietone Follies of 1929'', with an uncredited role. The following year she appeared in '' Words and Music'' in a small unbilled role, in John Wayne's first film where he had a significant role (billed as Duke Morrison). ''The Pay-Off'' is a 1930 American pre-Code crime drama film directed by Lowell Sherman, who also starred in the film along with Marian Nixon and Hugh Trevor. The screenplay was adapted by Jane Murfin, along with Samuel Shipman and John B. Hymer, based on Shipman and Hymer's 1927 play, ''Crime''. Plot Gene Fenmore is a suave gentleman, safely ensconced in the upper crust of society. Unbeknownst to his society acquaintances, he is also the leader of the largest mob in the city. But it is a mob with scruples, thanks to Fenmore, and they only prey on dishonest businessmen, and never shoot or kill anyone. However, there is a power struggle developing between Fenmore and his number two man, Rocky, who disagrees with the moral constraints put on the gang by Fenmore. Everything's Rosie
''Everything's Rosie'' is a 1931 American Pre-Code slapstick comedy film directed by Clyde Bruckman, from a screenplay by Ralph Spence, Tim Whelan, and Al Boasberg, based on a story by Boasberg. Although the screenplay was credited as original, it bore a striking resemblance to a 1923 play, ''Poppy'', which had starred W.C. Fields. The film starred Robert Woolsey, one-half of the comedy team of Wheeler & Woolsey, and was an attempt by RKO Radio Pictures to capitalize on the popularity of the comedy duo, having each of the team star in their own solo films. The film also starred Anita Louise and John Darrow, but was a critical failure, although it did manage not to lose money in a year when most RKO films did exactly that.
