Norene Gilletz
Norene Lynn Gilletz (; 29 May 1940 – 23 February 2020) was a Canadian Jewish cookbook writer, food consultant, and food writer. Biography Norene Gilletz was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Belle () and Max Rykiss. She spent her formative years in Winnipeg's North End and River Heights neighbourhoods, and attended Kelvin High School. She won a scholarship to study German at the University of Manitoba, but ultimately attended secretarial college. Gilletz moved to Montreal in 1960, where she raised her family, later relocating to Toronto. Her writing career began in 1968 with the release of ''Second Helpings, Please!'', edited by Gilletz and published by the Mount Sinai Chapter of B'nai Brith Women of Canada. By 2020, the cookbook was in its 17th printing and had sold over 200,000 copies. Anita Stewart (culinary Author)
Anita Stewart, (2 July 194729 October 2020) was a Canadian culinary author and food activist. Biography Stewart was also the founder of Food Day Canada, the largest national culinary celebration in Canadian history. In 2011, she was made a Member of the Order of Canada. Up until her death, she served as Food Laureate of the Ontario Agricultural College at the University of Guelph. She died on 29 October 2020, aged 73. Colleen Taylor Sen is a Canadian–American translator and author specializing in Indian cuisine. She has written eight books, many articles and has also contributed entries to encyclopedias. Early life Sen was born in Toronto. She holds a B.A. and M.A. in Slavic Studies from the University of Toronto and a PhD in Slavic Languages from Columbia University. After completing her PhD, she participated in chess competitions, analyzed chess games for Channel 11, and was profiled in the Sun Times for her skills in playing chess. Jean Paré, CM (December 7, 1927 – December 24, 2022) was a Canadian caterer, author of the '' Company's Coming'' cookbook series, and founder of Company's Coming Publishing Limited. She was one of the top-selling cookbook authors in the world, selling 30 million copies as of 2011. She wrote over 200 cookbooks before her retirement in 2011.
