Blenheim Vineyards
Blenheim Vineyards is a winery located in the Piedmont region of the Commonwealth of Virginia in the county of Albemarle. It is located within both the Virginia and Monticello viticultural areas and is among the 23 wineries located on the "Monticello Wine Trail". History Blenheim Vineyards is located on the historic Virginia farm claimed in 1730 by Secretary of the Virginia Colony John Carter who had a grant for 9,350 acres of land in Albemarle County, Virginia just south of Monticello near what is now known as Carter's Mountain. Carter maintained a mill there and his son Colonel Edward Carter built the first house there at Blenheim. The British Commander Major General William Philips resided at Blenheim while a prisoner during the Revolutionary War. Both Thomas Jefferson and Martha Jefferson were frequent guests at Blenheim during Phillips' captivity there. Chateau Morrisette Winery
Chateau Morrisette Winery is a winery located in Floyd, Virginia. It was founded by David Morrisette in 1980, making it among the oldest wineries in Virginia. Containing of land, the winery production has increased to approximately 60,000 cases per year. History William Morrisette began experimenting with grape growing in the early 1970s on the advice of the Virginia Tech Fruit and Science Department. After graduating from Mississippi State University's Viticulture and Enology program, David Morrisette returned to Virginia and ripped out the vines that his father planted. In 1978, William, Nancy and David Morrisette planted the first vines, starting the Chateau Morrisette Winery. Breaux Vineyards is a Cajun owned and operated winery and vineyard located in Purcellville, Loudoun County, Virginia. Founded by E. Paul Breaux, Jr. in 1997, the 100% estate grown winery was one of three United States wineries (and the only Virginia Winery) to be named in the book "250 Best Wines 2012" by Oz Clarke for their Viognier, which landed at #87 in the publication. Horton Vineyards is a winery located near to Gordonsville in Orange County, Virginia and within the Monticello AVA winemaking appellation. The winery was founded in 1983 by Denis Horton. History Horton Vineyards was founded by Dennis Horton With his wife Sharon Horton, with a small home vineyard. The small home vineyard has grown; as a result Sharon has to work out in the vineyard, with about twenty other workers where everything is done by hand. Ingleside Vineyards
Ingleside Vineyards is a winery located in the Northern Neck George Washington Birthplace AVA, an American Viticultural Area located in the Northern Neck region of Virginia. Ingleside is one of the oldest and largest wineries in the state, established in 1980, and part of an estate of over owned by the Flemer family since 1890. History The farmhouse, originally known as Washington Academy, was built in 1834, and is a two-story, five-bay, brick building with a pedimented hexastyle front portico. Flanking the two-story central block are one-story wings. The Washington Academy operated until about 1844, and the property sold in 1847.
