Pavle Bulatović
Pavle Bulatović (Serbian Cyrillic: Павле Булатовић; 13 December 1948 – 7 February 2000) was a Yugoslav politician. Bulatović served as Interior Minister of Montenegro from 1990 to 1992, then as Federal Minister of Interior of FR Yugoslavia and as Minister of Defence of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia from 1993 until his assassination in 2000. Death He was shot dead in Belgrade on the evening of 7 February 2000. The shooting took place at the restaurant of FK Rad in the Belgrade suburb of Banjica. Bulatović later died at the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade. Mark Anthony John Moran ( Cole, 4 July 196415 June 2000) was an Australian organized crime figure of the infamous Moran family from Melbourne, Victoria, notable for its involvement in the illegal drug trade and the Melbourne gangland killings. Moran, aged 35, was shot dead outside his Aberfeldie home, allegedly by Carl Williams, just after 8 pm on 15 June 2000. 2000 Department Store "Centrs" Bombing
Two explosives placed at the downtown Riga shopping center Centrs detonated on 17 August 2000. The two blasts occurred in the lobby of the supermarket ten minutes apart. One person died of their injuries and 35 were wounded in the attack. Attack The first bomb exploded at 5:19 pm. Police arrived few minutes later and started the evacuation. The blast had shattered glass windows and filled the ground floor with smoke. Eight minutes later the second bomb exploded. Dozens were injured, three had to be rushed to hospitals whilst 33 others were treated at the scene. One woman died in hospital. Investigation After a year and a half, the police arrested a suspect who was later charged for planting the second bomb. He was acquitted by the Supreme Court one year later. Since then no one has been found guilty and charged for the explosions. Killing Of Kirsty Jones
The murder of Kirsty Jones, a British national on holiday in Thailand, took place in 2000. Jones was found raped and strangled on 10 August in her hotel room in Chiang Mai. The case, which received widespread national and overseas press coverage, went unsolved and was officially closed on the day of the 20th anniversary of the murder when the statute of limitations expired in 2020. According to Thai law twenty years is the expiring time for the statute of limitations. Jones' killer has not been identified and no one has been charged with her murder. Carl Williams (criminal)
Carl Anthony Williams (13 October 1970 – 19 April 2010) was an Australian convicted murderer and drug trafficker from Melbourne, Victoria. He is the central figure in the Melbourne gangland killings as well as their final victim. He was sentenced to life imprisonment with a non-parole period of 35 years for ordering the murders of three people and conspiracy to murder a fourth (which was unsuccessful). On 19 April 2010, while incarcerated at HM Prison Barwon, Williams was beaten to death with the stem of an exercise bike by another inmate, Matthew Charles Johnson. Williams enlisted the help of others willing to perform the contract killings in exchange for large payments of cash. At the time of his death, he was in the maximum-security Acacia unit of HM Prison Barwon near Geelong. Williams would have been 71 before he is eligible for parole. Melbourne Gangland Killings
The Melbourne gangland killings were the murders of 36 underworld figures in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, between January 1998 and August 2010. The murders were retributive killings involving underworld groups. The deaths caused a power vacuum within Melbourne's criminal community, and rival factions fought for control and influence. Many of the murders remain unsolved, although detectives from the Purana Taskforce believe that Carl Williams was responsible for at least ten of them.
