	American River 50 Mile Endurance Run The American River 50 Mile Endurance Run, or AR50, is the second largest 50-mile (80.47 kilometer) ultramarathon beginning in Sacramento, California and ending in Auburn, California. The event is held annually in April. For most of the first , the course follows a bike path that runs along the American River, then switches to trails for the remainder of the race. Awards In addition to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards in each age division, all runners who cross the finish line in less than 14 hours are awarded a special finisher's jacket. Also, the Dick Collins Legend Award is presented at the finish of the AR50. History The race was first held in 1980 with 200 participants. 	Knee Knackering North Shore Trail Run The Knee Knackering North Shore Trail Run, also known as the Knee Knacker, was established in 1989 and is a 50 km ultramarathon trail run in that takes place in British Columbia, in the Greater Vancouver area on the second Saturday of July each year. Due to a municipality's environmental concerns, the field is limited to 200 runners. Because of the race's popularity, the entrants are selected by lottery. The route, comprising about 2,600 m of vertical climb and descent, generally follows the Baden-Powell Trail, and traverses the North Shore Mountains from Horseshoe Bay to Deep Cove. Course Both ends of the Baden Powell trail course are close to sea level, with a high point of 4,016 feet (1224 m) at the peak of Black Mountain. The track was the location of the 1942 World War II battle between Japanese and Allied – primarily Australian – forces in what was then the Australian territory of Papua. The track runs from Owers' Corner in Central Province, east of Port Moresby, across rugged and isolated terrain which is only passable on foot, to the village of Kokoda in Oro Province. It reaches a height of as it passes around the peak of Mount Bellamy. The track travels primarily through the land of the Mountain Koiari people. Hot, humid days with intensely cold nights, torrential rainfall and the risk of endemic tropical diseases such as malaria make it a challenging trek. 	Kettle Moraine 100 Endurance Runs The Kettle Moraine 100 is an ultramarathon held annually in early June in Kettle Moraine State Forest near La Grange, WI. The event includes a 100-mile race, a 100km race, and a 38-mile night "fun run." Course Description The 100-mile race consists of two out and back legs with the first round trip distance being 62.9 miles and the second being 37.3 miles. The 100km race follows the first 62.9 miles of the 100-mile race and the 38-mile night "fun run" follows the last 37.3 miles. Runners registered for the 100-mile race may drop at the 100km finish. The 100-mile course is run entirely on trails (except for a couple hundred feet of road crossings) and traverses the Ice Age Trail for about 65 miles. The trail is about 80% wooded terrain with the rest meandering through gentle prairie or marsh areas. 	İznik Ultramarathon İznik Ultramarathon, shortly İznik Ultra, is an international trail running ultramarathon event that takes place at İznik town of Bursa Province in northwestern Turkey. It was established in 2012 with the first race held on April 14-15. Lasting two days, the race is Turkey's longest single stage athletic event. The course is a loop around the Lake Iznik with a distance of and a total elevation gain of . İznik Ultra consists of the part races as the 80k "Orhangazi Ultra", the 42k "İznik Mountain Marathon" and additionally a city fun run "İznik 10k". 	Grand Canyon Ultra Marathon The Grand Canyon 24 hour Ultra Marathon is a 24-hour ultramarathon that takes the participants through one of the most striking environments on earth, the Grand Canyon. The race took place for the first time in October, 2010. The race takes participants out on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, the much less visited area of the Canyon. The race is a race in 24 hours, similar to the Namibian ultra marathon. The runners are self-reliant during the race and have to carry all food and water with them. 	Ultramaratón Fuego Y Agua Produced by Fuego y Agua Events LLC, Ultramaratón Fuego y Agua is an extremely challenging set of foot races on Isla de Ometepe in Nicaragua. The race is composed of four different event options, the 25k, 50k ultramarathon 100k ultramarathon and the Application only 70k obstacle course. The 100k course is a single loop encompassing most of the island and involves the ascent and descent of both volcanoes. The 25k and 50k courses cover part of the 100k course. The course changes every year and is a surprise. Because of the volcanoes, the island holds several microclimates of jungle, dry tropics, tropical beach, and cloud forest.
