The following page lists the tallest buildings and structures in Sri Lanka in terms of the highest architectural detail. Apart from the historical timeline of tallest structures, structures which are shorter than 20-floors (for habitable buildings) or (for non-habitable structures) are excluded. Whereas structures that are under construction but have topped out are included in this list. The majority of high-rise structures in the country are located in the commercial capital Colombo. As of May 2017, the tallest structure on the island is the Lotus Tower at , and the tallest habitable building is the Altair at . Colombo City Centre
Colombo City Centre is a 47-storey mixed-use development, comprising a five-storey retail space, a 164-room hotel and 192 residential apartments. The building is situated opposite Beira Lake, located at Sir James Pieris Mawatha, Colombo 02. The development was a joint venture between local company, the Abans Group, and Singaporean company, SilverNeedle Hospitality, at an estimated cost of US$170M. As of 2021, it is wholly owned by Abans Group. The construction was undertaken by Sanken Construction (Pvt.) Ltd. Overseas Realty (Ceylon) PLC is the largest listed real estate company in Sri Lanka. The company is the developer and the proprietor of World Trade Center Colombo and Havelock City. The company was incorporated in 1980 and was listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange in 1982. The company is ranked amongst the '' LMD 100'', moving 17 positions up to number 76 for the fiscal year 2019/20. World Trade Center Colombo
The World Trade Center (also known as WTC Colombo or WTCC) ( si, ලෝක වෙළෙඳ මධ්යස්ථානය, translit=Lōka Veḷen̆da Madhyasthānaya; ta, உலக வர்த்தக மையம், translit=Ulaka Varttaka Maiyam) is a twin building in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The 39-storey towers are built over a 4-storey retail podium, and thus each tower has a total floor count of 43. WTCC is owned and managed by Overseas Realty Ceylon PLC (ORCPLC). History The WTCC was the vision of Singaporean, Shing Pee Tao, the founder of Shing Kwan Group, a commodities, shipping and real estate company. Cinnamon Life Colombo
Cinnamon Life Integrated Resort is the first integrated resort in Sri Lanka and the largest private investment in the country. Sri Lankan-British architect, Cecil Balmond designed the resort while Hyundai Engineering & Construction is the main contractor. The construction of the resort began in 2014. All the buildings in the resort topped off in May 2019. Even though the resort was originally planned to be completed by 2018, the project got delayed several times due to various reasons. John Keells started handing over keys to the suites apartments in August 2021. With handing over of residential and commercial units, revenue recognition started at Cinnamon Life. Havelock City
Havelock City is a large mixed-use real-estate project in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The Residential component of the project consists of 8 residential towers and the Commercial component of the project consists of a 46-storey office tower and a Shopping Mall built to international standards. It is popular for its clubhouse, 7-acre garden, and the overall size of the project. The first 4 residential towers, namely Park Tower and Elibank Tower (of construction Phase-1), and Layards Tower and Davidson Tower (of construction Phase-2), were completed as at early 2017 with 22 floors each, and is currently occupied by residents. The ''Daily News'' is an English-language newspaper in Sri Lanka. It is now published by the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited (Lake House), a government-owned corporation. The newspaper commenced publishing on 3 January 1918. D. R. Wijewardena was its founder. The present-day newspaper is written as a broadsheet, with photographs printed both in color and black and white. Weekday printings include the main section, containing news on national affairs, international affairs, business, political analysis, sports, editorials and opinions. Kokavil
Kokavil ( ta, கொக்காவில் si, කොකාවිල්) is a village in Mullaitivu District, Sri Lanka, also called ''Kokkavil''. It is situated along the A-9 road. History Massacre on Yal Devi Troops were located parallel to the A-9 highway and the old Murikandi-Kokavil Railway Station where the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) massacre on the "Yal Devi" passenger train occurred. On 19 January 1985, the packed Yal Devi train was attacked by members of the LTTE, triggering a landmine. 28 soldiers and 11 civilians were killed, and 20 soldiers, five civilians and three police officers were injured. The train driver pushed all the injured into the carriage connected to the diesel locomotive and continued the journey, leaving the other 12 compartments behind, as the train remained disconnected as a result of the impact of the blast. Kokavil transmission tower ( ta, கொக்காவில் தொலைத்தொடர்பு கோபுரம், translit=Kokkāvil Tolaittoṭarpu Kōpuram; si, කොකාවිල් සම්ප්රේෂණ කුළුණ, translit=Kokāvil Samprēṣaṇa Kuḷuṇa), often nicknamed Kokavil Tower, is a tall multi-functional transmission tower at Kokavil, Mullaitivu, Sri Lanka, which is used for television, radio and telecommunication transmissions as well as military communications. Its mast structure is made of lattice steel. History Kokavil transmission tower was built in 1982 as a part of grant-aid provided by the Government of Japan. It was a guyed mast tower.
