Seth Edulji Dinshaw
Seth Edulji (or Eduljee) Dinshaw (18 May 1842 - 8 May 1914) was a Karachi-based Parsis, Parsi philanthropist during the British India, British colonial era. Dinshaw had risen from poverty, and became the largest landowner in the city. Business interests Dinshaw was born in Karachi on 18 May 1842. A member of the Parsi community, he made his initial fortune during the Second Afghan War (1878–1881) by being a contractor for the British Army. The Karachi Port Trust Building ( ur, ), also referred to as the KPT Building, is a large colonial-era building in Karachi, Pakistan that serves as headquarters for the Karachi Port Trust, which administers the Port of Karachi. The building dates from the height of the British Raj, and was inaugurated on 5 January 1916. Location This building is located on Muhammad Ali Jinnah Road in central Karachi's Kharadar neighbourhood, near the Native Jetty Bridge and Merewether Clock Tower. Nishtar Road or Nishter Road is one of the major roads in Karachi, Pakistan. It runs from Jehangir Road to Chakiwara Road. During the colonial era the road was named Lawrence Road, possibly for Sir John Lawrence, Viceroy and Governor-General of India. Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas ( ur, ) was a Pakistani pilot in the Pakistan Air Force. Minhas was the only PAF officer to receive the highest valour award, the Nishan-e-Haider. He was also the youngest person and the shortest-serving officer to have received this award. During the routine training mission in August 1971, Minhas attempted to gain control of his jet trainer when his superior officer Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman hijacked his plane and was trying to defect to India to join the Liberation war of Bangladesh which then crashed near the Thatta District, Sindh in Pakistan.
