List Of State Routes In New York
The following is a list of numbered state highways in the U.S. state of New York. Signed state highways in New York, referred to as "touring routes" by the New York State Department of Transportation, are numbered from 1 to 899. A large number of unsigned state highways, known as " reference routes", are numbered from 900 to 999 and carry a suffix. Four reference routes have been signed as touring routes and as such are listed on this page. The first set of routes in New York were assigned in 1924, replacing a series of unsigned legislative routes that had existed since 1908. Initially, there were only 29 routes; by the late 1920s, there were several dozen highways. In the 1930 state highway renumbering, some of these routes were reconfigured or renumbered while hundreds of other, smaller routes were assigned. Interstate 787 (New York)
Interstate 787 (I-787) is an auxiliary Interstate Highway in the US state of New York. I-787 is the main highway for those traveling into and out of downtown Albany. The southern terminus is, per New York traffic data, at the toll plaza for New York State Thruway (I-87) exit 23 southwest of downtown Albany. However, current signage indicates the terminus as along I-787's ramp to US Route 9W (US 9W). The northern terminus of the route is unclear, with some sources placing the terminus at 8th Street in Troy, creating an overlap with New York State Route 7 (NY 7) between Green Island and Troy. Other documents show I-787 as terminating at its interchange with NY 7 and NY 787 in the town of Colonie. Regardless, the route is long if extended to Troy, or excluding the unsigned NY 7 overlap. Ripley, New York
Ripley is a town on Lake Erie in the westernmost part of Chautauqua County, New York. The population was 2,310 at the time of the 2020 census. The town was named after Eleazer Wheelock Ripley, a general in the War of 1812. There are no incorporated villages in the town, but there is one census-designated place: the hamlet of Ripley. The town is perhaps best known as being the western end of the New York State Thruway. History Ripley was first settled ''circa'' 1804 in the vicinity of Ripley village. Pennsylvania Route 5 (PA 5) is a westward continuation of New York State Route 5 (NY 5) in Pennsylvania. It runs from North East, Pennsylvania at the New York-Pennsylvania border to Springfield Township in western Erie County, for a total of . Wilna is a town in Jefferson County, New York, United States. The population was 6,427 at the 2010 census. The town is on the eastern side of the county and is east of Watertown. History The town was first settled around 1798 at the location of the future Carthage village. The town of Wilna was officially established in 1813 from part of the town of Le Ray and part of the Lewis County town of Leyden. The origin of the name of the town is obscure, although it is alleged to be named after the German spelling of Vilnius, in commemoration of the French occupation of Vilnius in 1812. Wood's Grist Mill was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. Deferiet is a village in Jefferson County, New York, United States. The population was 294 at the 2010 census. The village is named after settler Jenika de Ferriet. Deferiet is on the southwestern side of the town of Wilna, east of Watertown and south of Fort Drum. Geography Deferiet is located in eastern Jefferson County at (44.034248, -75.682892). Its western border follows the Black River, separating the village from the town of Champion. Plattsburgh ( moh, Tsi ietsénhtha) is a city in, and the seat of, Clinton County, New York, United States, situated on the north-western shore of Lake Champlain.
