In the Republic of India, the various central and state legislatures are presided by either a Speaker or a Chairman. The Speaker is elected in the very first meeting of the Telangana Legislative Assembly after the General elections for a term of 5 years from amongst the members of the Saasana Sabha. The Speaker holds office until either they ceases to be a member of the Saasana Sabha or he himself resigns. The Speaker can be removed from office by a resolution passed in the Saasana Sabha by an effective majority of its members. Telangana Legislative Assembly
The Telangana Legislative Assembly or Telangana Śāsana Sabha is the lower house of the Telangana Legislature. The Legislative Assembly of Telangana currently consists of 119 elected members and 1 nominated member from the Anglo-Indian community. Its chief engineer was Nawab Sarwar Jung. The members of the ''Vidhana Sabha'' are directly elected by people through Universal suffrage, adult franchise. Each List of constituencies of Telangana Legislative Assembly, constituency elects one member of the assembly. Members are popularly known as M.L.A's. The assembly is elected using the Plurality voting, simple plurality or "first past the post" electoral system. The elections are conducted by the Election Commission of India. Pocharam Srinivas Reddy
Pocharam Srinivas Reddy Parige is an Indian politician who is the current and 2nd Speaker of the Telangana Legislative Assembly from 17 January 2019 and Member of the Telangana Legislative Assembly from Banswada constituency. He was the Minister of Agriculture (2014-2019) in the government of Telangana. Career Reddy joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 1984 from the Indian National Congress (INC). He worked as a minister twice in TDP government. He was with TDP for 27 years before quitting. In 1994, he contested the Banswada constituency as a TDP candidate and won with a majority of over 57,000 votes. He lost in 2004 against Bajireddy Govardhan, the INC candidate. Padma Devender Reddy
Madavareddy Padma Devender Reddy (born 6 January 1969) is an Indian politician who was the 1st Deputy Speaker of Telangana Legislative Assembly from 12 June 2014 to 16 January 2019 and Member of the Telangana Legislative Assembly from Medak constituency from 2 June 2014. She belongs to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. She is a former MLA from Ramayampet assembly constituency. She regularly appears on political debates on Television and is known for good oratory skills. The Indian state of Telangana was officially formed on 2 June 2014. Since then, elections in the state are conducted in accordance with the Constitution of India to elect representatives of various bodies on national, state and district levels. Bharat Rashtra Samithi ( ; BRS), formerly known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi ( TRS), is an Indian political party which is predominantly active in the state of Telangana. It was founded on 27 April 2001 as by K. Chandrashekar Rao, with a single-point agenda of creating a separate Telangana state with Hyderabad as its capital. It has been instrumental in carrying forth a sustained agitation for the granting of statehood to Telangana.
