Kingston Upon Hull
Kingston upon Hull, usually abbreviated to Hull, is a port city and unitary authority in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It lies upon the River Hull at its confluence with the Humber Estuary, inland from the North Sea and south-east of York, the historic county town. With a population of (), it is the fourth-largest city in the Yorkshire and the Humber region after Leeds, Sheffield and Bradford. The town of Wyke on Hull was founded late in the 12th century by the monks of Meaux Abbey as a port from which to export their wool. St Mary's College, Hull
St Mary's College is a coeducational Roman Catholic secondary school and sixth form located in Cranbrook Avenue, Kingston upon Hull, England. It was formed following an amalgamation between the former St Mary's Convent High School for Girls and Marist College for boys. In 2002 'The Academy' was built, as a sports centre for members of the school, and members of the public to use outside of school hours. History Formerly St Mary's Grammar School, a voluntary aided Roman Catholic school, it was mostly destroyed by bombs in 1941 having been established by the Sisters of Mercy near a convent on Anlaby Road. It was later rebuilt and moved to Inglemire Lane in 1960 to become St Mary's Grammar School for Girls, close to the Marist College for Boys on Cottingham Road. Hymers College
Hymers College is a co-educational independent day school in Kingston upon Hull, located on the site of the old Botanical Gardens. It is one of the leading schools in the East Riding of Yorkshire and a member of the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference. The school was founded following the death in 1887 of the Revd Dr John Hymers, Rector of Brandesburton, who left a substantial sum in his will for the founding of a school "for the training of intelligence in whatever social rank of life it may be found among the vast and varied population of the town and port of Hull". Construction of the buildings was completed in 1893, and the first pupils arrived in September of that year. Wyke Sixth Form College is a sixth form college in Kingston upon Hull, England. History The college opened in 1988 and purports to be the largest A-level provider in the city. Over £3 million was spent on facilities before the college opened. Its campus comprises four buildings which include a library and learning resource centre, canteen, sports facilities and classrooms. Endeavour Learning and Skills Centre is a centre operated by Hull Training & Adult Education (formerly HCC Training) offering adult education and further education. History Endeavour High School Endeavour High School was created in 2001 from a merger of two existing schools: William Gee and Amy Johnson. In the same year the planning process began for a new school on the site of the former Kingston General Hospital, together with sports facilities on a former council depot site.
