Endeavour Learning and Skills Centre is a centre operated by Hull Training & Adult Education (formerly HCC Training) offering adult education and further education. History Endeavour High School Endeavour High School was created in 2001 from a merger of two existing schools: William Gee and Amy Johnson. In the same year the planning process began for a new school on the site of the former Kingston General Hospital, together with sports facilities on a former council depot site. It moved to a new £15 million site on Beverley Road in 2003, construction of the school was funded by cash raised by the sale of shares in Kingston Communications by the City Council. A sports facility north of the school in Temple Street, Stepney was also built. In March 2004 Endeavour was placed in special measures, following an inspection by Ofsted. Special measures is a status applied by regulators of public services in Britain to providers who fall short of acceptable standards. In education (England and Wales) Ofsted, the schools inspection agency for England and some British Overseas Territories, and Estyn, the schools inspection agency for Wales, apply the term special measures to schools under their jurisdictions when they consider the school has failed to provide an acceptable standard of teaching, has poor facilities, or otherwise fails to meet the minimum standards for education set by the government and other agencies, when they judge the school lacks the leadership capacity amongst its management to ensure improvements. Education in Kingston upon Hull is governed by the unitary authority of Kingston upon Hull. The city has fourteen secondary schools and seventy one primary schools. (Kingston upon) Hull City Council is the governing body for the unitary authority and city of Kingston upon Hull. An academy school in England is a state-funded school which is directly funded by the Department for Education and independent of local authority control. Stepney is an area of Kingston upon Hull within the larger area of Sculcoates, north of the city centre on the (A1079) Beverley-Hull main road.
