Newfoundland And Labrador English School District
The Newfoundland and Labrador English School District is the school board overseeing all English-language primary and secondary education in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. In June 2018, NLESD held jurisdiction over 256 schools serving more than 65,000 students across the province. It was created in 2013 as part of the amalgamation of all provincial school boards into an English-language and a French-language board. There had previously been four English-language school boards in the province: the Nova Central School District, Eastern School District, Labrador School Board, and Western School Board. Eastern School District Of Newfoundland And Labrador
The Eastern School District of Newfoundland and Labrador (ESDNL) was the ''de facto'' school board for the eastern portion of the island of Newfoundland, in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Its headquarters was in St. John's and there were regional offices in Spaniard's Bay, Burin and Clarenville. The district served approximately 40,000 students with 4,200 staff and teachers. It was amalgamated in 2013 into the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District. Nova Central School District was a school district headquartered in Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador, Gander in the Provinces and territories of Canada, Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The district had 66 schools located in 50 different communities, and served about 13,000 students, including a significant rural population. The District was formed by the merger of the Lewisporte-Gander and Baie Verte-Central-Connaigre school boards in 2004. The largest school in the district was Gander Academy. The district was replaced by the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District upon provincial amalgamation in 2013.
