Winnipeg
Winnipeg () is the capital and largest city of the province of Manitoba in Canada. It is centred on the confluence of the Red and Assiniboine rivers, near the longitudinal centre of North America. , Winnipeg had a city population of 749,607 and a metropolitan population of 834,678, making it the sixth-largest city, and eighth-largest metropolitan area in Canada. Stonewall, Manitoba
Stonewall is a town in the Canadian province of Manitoba with a population of 5,046 as of the 2021 census. The town is situated approximately north of Winnipeg on PTH 67. It is known for its limestone quarries. The local festival is the Quarry Days which is usually held over three days in August on Main Street. The town is surrounded by the R.M. of Rockwood. History When the last ice age retreated, as well as the prairies, escarpments such as Riding Mountain were left behind. In addition to these, smaller elevations were left behind such as Stony Mountain and Stonewall. It is believed that these escarpments were used as look-outs by early hunters approximately 4,000 to 5,000 years ago. These formations were later used as buffalo jumps by the indigenous populations. Selkirk, Manitoba
Selkirk is a city in the western Canadian province of Manitoba, located on the Red River about northeast of the provincial capital Winnipeg. It has a population of 10,504 as of the 2021 census. The mainstays of the local economy are tourism, a steel mill, and a psychiatric hospital. A vertical lift bridge over the Red River connects Selkirk with the smaller town of East Selkirk. The city is connected to Winnipeg via Highway 9 and is served by the Canadian Pacific Railway. The city was named in honour of Scotsman Thomas Douglas, 5th Earl of Selkirk, who obtained the grant to establish a colony in the Red River area in 1813. Rosser, Manitoba
Rosser is a rural municipality (RM) in the Canadian province of Manitoba, lying adjacent to the northwest side of Winnipeg and part of the Winnipeg Metro Region. Its population as of the 2016 Census was 1,372. It is situated along Provincial Trunk Highway 6, and Winnipeg's Perimeter Highway. CentrePort Canada lies primarily in the eastern part of the RM, inside the Perimeter Highway. A small portion of Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport also lies within the RM of Rosser. Water services are provided by the Cartier Regional Water Cooperative. The CentrePort distribution line serves CentrePort development and the RM of Rosser. Water sourced from the Assiniboine River is treated at Headingley before being sent out thru distribution channels. Interlake Region, Manitoba
The Interlake Region is an informal geographic region of the Canadian province of Manitoba that lies roughly between Lake Winnipeg and Lake Manitoba in the Canadian province of Manitoba. The region comprises 14 rural municipalities, one city (the City of Selkirk), five towns ( Arborg Riverton, Stonewall, Teulon and Winnipeg Beach) and one village, Dunnottar. Springfield is a rural municipality (RM) in Manitoba, Canada. It stretches from urban industrial development on the eastern boundary of the City of Winnipeg, through urban, rural residential, agricultural and natural landscapes, to the Agassiz Provincial Forest on the municipality's eastern boundary. Macdonald, Manitoba
Macdonald is an unincorporated community in Manitoba northwest of Portage la Prairie. The Post Office opened in 1884 on section 33, township 12, range 8 west of the Prime Meridian. Originally known as Drumconner, it changed to its present name in 1895 (commemorating Sir John A. Macdonald, first Prime Minister of Canada) and is located on section 35, township 8, range 12 west of the Prime Meridian. The community is in the Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie. The community is mostly agricultural, with a small residential area along Main Street/Centre Street and Cream Street.
