This is a list of mass or spree killers in China. A mass murderer is typically defined as someone who kills three or more people in one incident, with no "cooling off" period, not including themselves. A mass murder typically occurs in a single location where one or more persons kill several others. Specific notable subtypes of mass murder, including politically motivated crimes, workplace killings, school attacks and familicides, have their own lists. Huang Guozhen
Huang Guozhen was a Chinese spree killer who murdered 16 people and injured two others in 1989 in the village of Nafang, Naxiang. Sometime before the rampage killing, Huang became embroiled in a dispute with his brother, Huang Xiangbang. On the afternoon of March 19, Guozhen became intoxicated, set fire to his house and drove to his brother's house, killing his brother and his wife with a firewood knife. Guozhen then proceeded to travel to the local market and began to kill individuals at random, including children and the elderly. In total, he killed 16-17 people and injured two others. Guozhen was eventually subdued by bystanders Huang Guoqin and local CCP party secretary Zhou Youbang. Guozhen was arrested and tried ten days later in Qinzhou. He was sentenced to death in front of a crowd of 10,000 people and was quickly executed on the same day. Mishui Town () is a town and the seat of Hengdong County in Hunan, China. The town has an area of with a household population of 150,000 (as of 2017). 2018 Mishui Vehicle Attack
On 12 September 2018, a man deliberately drove his SUV into crowds on a square in Mishui near Hengyang in Hunan Province, China. The attack resulted in the deaths of 15 people and injuries to 43 others. The attacker, Yang Zanyun, was sentenced to death and executed. Attack The attack happened at about 7:35 p.m. when a Land Rover SUV was driven onto a square in Mishui and deliberately struck people. When the vehicle came to a stop, the suspect got out and continued his attack with a shovel and a knife. Suspect and investigation The suspect was identified as 54-year-old Yang Zanyun, who was living off interest from loans. He had a long criminal record that included previous convictions for selling drugs, theft and attacking people. The government said Yang wanted to take "revenge on society."
