Nuevo León
Nuevo León () is a state in the northeast region of Mexico. The state was named after the New Kingdom of León, an administrative territory from the Viceroyalty of New Spain, itself was named after the historic Spanish Kingdom of León. With a total land area of 64,555 square kilometers (40,112 square miles), Nuevo León is the 13th largest federal entity in Mexico. The state is bordered by Tamaulipas to the east, Coahuila to the west, and both Zacatecas and San Luis Potosi to the south. To the north, it shares an international border with the U.S. state of Texas. The Laredo-Colombia Solidarity International Bridge is the only vehicular bridge that connects the United States with the state of Nuevo León. It crosses over the Rio Grande (Rio Bravo) between the city of Colombia, Nuevo León, and Laredo, Texas. XEMR-AM (1140 kHz) is a Mexican clear-channel station. It is licensed to Apodaca, Nuevo León, part of the Monterrey Metropolitan area. Organizacion Mexicana de Radio, S.A. de C.V., holds the concession. XEMR is operated by Grupo Radio Alegría. XHWAG-FM
XHWAG-FM is a radio station on 88.5 FM in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. It is owned by Radiópolis and carries its Los 40 format. History Together with San Luis The original XEWA in San Luis Potosí received its concession on December 2, 1948, one of a string of repeaters of XEW-AM 900 Mexico City authorized in the late 1940s. XEWA began operations on the frequency of 540 kHz with 150,000 watts of power — still its current authorized level, making it the most powerful AM radio station in the country. In May 1961, a second station, initially with call sign XEWM-AM, was licensed to operate in Monterrey, Nuevo León, in order to provide daytime XEW service and an improved nighttime signal there; the call letters soon were changed to XEWA-AM to match the co-channel San Luis station.
