This is a list of electricity-generating power stations in the U.S. state of Rhode Island, sorted by type and name. In 2021, Rhode Island had a total summer capacity of 2,131 MW through all of its power plants, and a net generation of 7,194 GWh in 2022. The corresponding electrical energy generation mix in 2022 was 83.8% natural gas, 11% solar, 2.6% wind, 2.5% biomass and 0.1% hydroelectric. Landfill gas utilization is a process of gathering, processing, and treating the methane or another gas emitted from decomposing garbage to produce electricity, heat, fuels, and various chemical compounds.
