This is a list of political parties in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria. The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria has a political system based on direct democracy, direct democratic and multi-party system, multi-party aspirations, with different levels of government: Self-governing municipalities and communes, self-governing autonomous regions and provinces, and the autonomous region as a whole. There have been two elections in the region so far, one for the communes/municipalities and one for regions/provinces in 2017, while the third federation-level election for the Syrian Democratic Council was delayed. Autonomous Administration Of North And East Syria
The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), also known as Rojava, is a de facto autonomous region in northeastern Syria. It consists of self-governing sub-regions in the areas of Afrin, Jazira, Euphrates, Raqqa, Tabqa, Manbij and Deir Ez-Zor. The region gained its de facto autonomy in 2012 in the context of the ongoing Rojava conflict and the wider Syrian Civil War, in which its official military force, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), has taken part. While entertaining some foreign relations, the region is not officially recognized as autonomous by the government of Syria or any state except for the Catalan Parliament. Kongra Star (Kurmanji, Kurdish for ''Star Congress''), founded in 2005 under the name of Yekîtiya Star (Kurmanji, Kurdish for ''Star Union of Women''), is a confederation of women’s organizations in Rojava, Syria. The name ''Star'' "refers to the ancient Mesopoamian goddess Ishtar, and nowadays the name also refers to celestial stars." They have been instrumental in the significant advances made in gender relations in the region. Its work is based on the claim that "without the liberation of women, a truly free society is impossible." Murray Bookchin (January 14, 1921 – July 30, 2006) was an American social theorist, author, orator, historian, and political philosopher. A pioneer in the environmental movement, Bookchin formulated and developed the theory of social ecology and urban planning within anarchist, libertarian socialist, and ecological thought. Honor And Rights Convention
The Honor and Rights Convention ( ar, تجمع عهد الكرامة والحقوق, CDR) is a secular left-wing multi-ethnic political party established in 2011 in northern Syria during the Arab Spring. The party has 2 politicians in the Democratic Assembly of the Federation of Northern Syria – Rojava and the party leader Meram Dawûd, is one of the nine members of Executive Council.
