Hillsboro, Oregon
Hillsboro ( ) is the fifth-largest city in the U.S. state of Oregon and is the county seat of Washington County. Situated in the Tualatin Valley on the west side of the Portland metropolitan area, the city hosts many high-technology companies, such as Intel, locally known as the Silicon Forest. At the 2020 census, the city's population was 106,447. For thousands of years the Atfalati tribe of the Kalapuya lived in the Tualatin Valley near the later site of Hillsboro. The climate, moderated by the Pacific Ocean, helped make the region suitable for fishing, hunting, food gathering, and agriculture. Settlers founded a community here in 1842, later named after David Hill, an Oregon politician. Transportation by riverboat on the Tualatin River was part of Hillsboro's settler economy. A railroad reached the area in the early 1870s and an interurban electric railway about four decades later. Mitch Meeuwsen
Mitch Meeuwsen (born April 20, 1982) is a graduate assistant football coach at Oregon State University. Early years Mitch Meeuwsen was born in Hillsboro but grew up in Forest Grove. Meeuwsen played football, basketball and baseball while growing up and spent the summers camping and traveling for sports with his family. Meeuwsen's parents still reside in his hometown along with many extended family members that are in the surrounding communities. High school Meeuwsen attended Forest Grove High School in Forest Grove, Oregon. He was named an honorable mention All-America by USA Today, 1st Team All-State as a Safety, and honorable mention All-State as quarterback for the Vikings. Meeuwsen was also 3rd Team All-State in Basketball and 1st Team All-State in Baseball. He was the Pacific-8 Conference Player of the Year in all three sports. Josh Inman
Josh Inman (born March 13, 1980) is an American rower. Inman was born and raised in Hillsboro, Oregon, where he graduated from Hillsboro High School and became an Eagle Scout. He lettered with the Oregon State Beavers men's rowing team during the years 2000–2003. After graduation, he joined the US National Team with some success and was selected as the USRowing Male athlete of the year in 2005. In the 2008 Summer Olympics, he won a bronze medal in the men's eight. Darrall Imhoff
Darrall Tucker Imhoff (October 11, 1938 – June 30, 2017) was an American professional basketball player. He spent 12 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA), playing for six teams from 1960 to 1972. He made an NBA All-Star team, and was also an Olympic Gold medalist. He is perhaps best remembered for being one of the defenders tasked with guarding Wilt Chamberlain during his famed 100-point game in 1962. Jim Evenson
Jim Evenson (born January 9, 1947) was a running back who played seven seasons in the Canadian Football League for the British Columbia Lions and the Ottawa Rough Riders. Evenson won the Eddie James Memorial Trophy in 1971. He was a part of the Rough Riders 1973 Grey Cup winning team. The Toronto Blue Jays are a Canadian professional baseball team based in Toronto. The Blue Jays compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) East division. The 1993 World Series was the championship series of Major League Baseball's (MLB) season. The 90th edition of the World Series, it was a best-of-seven playoff played between the defending World Series champion and American League (AL) champion Toronto Blue Jays and the National League (NL) champion Philadelphia Phillies. The Blue Jays defeated the Phillies, four games to two. With Toronto ahead three games to two in the Series, but trailing Game 6 by a score of 6–5 in the bottom of the ninth inning, Joe Carter hit a game-winning three-run home run to clinch Toronto's second consecutive championship (the first team to repeat as champions since the 1977– 78 Yankees). Scott John Brow (born March 17, 1969) is a former pitcher who played in Major League Baseball from to . He primarily pitched middle relief, but he did start four games in his major league career, three of which were in his rookie season. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, Oregon, and also graduated from the University of Washington, where he played college baseball for the Huskies from 1988–1990. Brow won the World Series with the Toronto Blue Jays in 1993. Brow was additionally a member of the inaugural Arizona Diamondbacks . Professional career Brow played in 59 games during his Major League career, 42 of them with the Toronto Blue Jays. He had a career record of 3–4 with a 6.06 ERA, while earning two saves. Scott Brosius
Scott David Brosius (born August 15, 1966) is an American former Major League Baseball third baseman for the Oakland Athletics (–) and the New York Yankees (–). Early life Brosius grew up in Milwaukie, Oregon, where he attended Rex Putnam High School before going to Linfield College. He was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 20th round of the 1987 amateur draft and signed on June 9, 1987. Career Brosius became one of the few players to hit a home run in his first major league game, on August 7, 1991. Brosius was the A's starting third baseman through the mid-1990s, although he played almost 300 games in his Oakland career at other positions, primarily in the outfield.
