Thai League 1
The Thai League 1 ( th, ไทยลีก 1), often referred to as T1, is the top level of the Thai football league system. Contested by 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with Thai League 2. Seasons run from August to May, with each team playing 30 games (playing all 15 other teams both home and away). It is sponsored by Toyota Motor Thailand and therefore officially known as the Hilux Revo Thai League. In the Thai League, most of the games are played during Saturdays and Sundays, with a few games played on Wednesdays and Fridays. History Origins Thailand has had league-football competition since 1916. Sérgio Ricardo de Paiva Farias (born 9 June 1967) is a Brazilian football manager is best known for his continental accomplishments during his four-year reign as Pohang Steelers. Farias won the AFC Champions League with Pohang Steelers in 2009. Farias won Asia’s Club Manager of the Year in 2010. As well as winning Asia’s best manager, Farias was selected as the best manager in the K-league and gained the award for the Best Manager in East Asia as well. Alexandré Pölking (born 12 March 1976), sometimes known simply as Mano, is a Brazilian-German football manager and former player. He is currently the head coach of Thailand national team. Playing career He started his career in his ancestral country of Germany, playing for VfB Fichte Bielefeld, Arminia Bielefeld and SV Darmstadt 98. TOT originally stands for the Telephone Organization of Thailand, the former name of the company at the time before their privatization.
