Before Sunrise
''Before Sunrise'' is a 1995 romantic drama film directed by Richard Linklater and co-written by Linklater and Kim Krizan. The first installment in the ''Before'' trilogy, it follows Jesse (Ethan Hawke) and Céline (Julie Delpy) as they meet on a Eurail train and disembark in Vienna to spend the night together. Inspired by personal experiences, Linklater collaborated with Krizan, who previously appeared in his films ''Slacker'' (1991) and '' Dazed and Confused'' (1993), to develop the screenplay. Casting was extensive; it took nine months for Hawke and Delpy to be cast with principal photography taking place entirely in Vienna. The plot is considered minimalistic, consisting mostly of monologues and casual conversation with extended dialogue as the characters navigate Vienna. Their contrasting ideas and perspectives on life and love are detailed, with Jesse a romantic disguised as a cynic, and Céline seemingly a romantic. ''Before Sunrise'' also explores time, death, and s ...

Bride Of The Wind
''Bride of the Wind'' is a 2001 period drama directed by Academy Award-nominee Bruce Beresford and written by first-time screenwriter Marilyn Levy. Loosely based on the life of Alma Mahler, ''Bride of the Wind'' recounts Alma's marriage to the composer Gustav Mahler and her romantic liaisons. The title of the film alludes to a painting by Oskar Kokoschka named ''Die Windsbraut'', literally meaning ''The Bride of the Wind'', though often translated as ''The Tempest''. The artist dedicated this painting to Alma Mahler. The film received negative reviews from critics and did poorly at the box office. Poster Art The film poster artwork depicts Alma reclining on a chaise longue attended by a lover, with a field of flowers in the background. Alma's dress, her hair, the chaise, the field of flowers and even the air are replete with many of the stylistic elements of paintings by Gustav Klimt. Bitter Sweet (1940 Film)
''Bitter Sweet'' is a 1940 American Technicolor musical film directed by W. S. Van Dyke, based on the operetta '' Bitter Sweet'' by Noël Coward. It was nominated for two Academy Awards, one for Best Cinematography and the other for Best Art Direction by Cedric Gibbons and John S. Detlie. The film is based on Coward's stage operetta, which was a hit in 1929 in London. It was filmed twice, first in 1933 in black-and-white (in Britain, with Anna Neagle and Fernand Gravet in the leading roles). The 1940 film is much cut and rewritten, removing much of the operetta's irony. The opening and closing scenes are cut, focusing the film squarely upon the relationship between MacDonald's character, Sarah, and her music teacher, Carl Linden. The opening scene was a flash forward, in which Sarah appears as an elderly woman recalling how she fell in love. One reason for dropping this scene is that it had been appropriated for MGM's 1937 film '' Maytime''. Coward disliked the 1940 film a ...

Bitter Sweet (1933 Film)
''Bitter Sweet'' is a British musical romance film directed by Herbert Wilcox and released by United Artists in 1933. It was the first film adaptation of Noël Coward's 1929 operetta '' Bitter Sweet''. It starred Anna Neagle and Fernand Gravey, with Ivy St. Helier reviving her stage role as Manon. It was made at British and Dominion's Elstree Studios and was part of a boom in operetta films during the 1930s. It tells the story of Sarah Linden's romance. Sarah, now a gray-haired old woman, tells her story to a girl who is on the eve of marrying an obnoxious man when she is really in love with a musician. The operetta was remade in 1940 as a film of the same name with Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy; however, it was less faithful to the original story than the less censored 1933 version. Plot summary Cast * Anna Neagle as Sarah Millick / Sari Linden * Fernand Gravey as Carl Linden * Miles Mander as Captain Auguste Lutte * Clifford Heatherley as Herr Schlick * Esme Per ...
