National Lacrosse League
The National Lacrosse League (NLL) is a men's professional box lacrosse league in North America. The league is headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The NLL currently has fifteen teams: ten in the United States and five in Canada. The NLL ranks third in average attendance for pro indoor sports worldwide, behind only the National Hockey League, NHL and National Basketball Association, NBA. Unlike other box lacrosse leagues which play in the summer, the NLL plays its games in the winter and spring, from December to June. Each year, the playoff teams battle for the National Lacrosse League Cup. The NLL has averaged between 8,900 and 10,700 spectators per game each year since 2004. Curt Malawsky
Curt Malawsky (born May 10, 1970 in Coquitlam, British Columbia) is a former box lacrosse player and currently the Assistant General Manager and Head Coach of the Calgary Roughnecks of the National Lacrosse League. Malawsky played for eleven seasons in the NLL and appeared in five Champion's Cup finals, three with Rochester, one with Arizona, and finally winning the title with Calgary in his final season in 2009. He was inducted into the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame as a box player in 2015. In 2022, he was inducted into the Coquitlam Sports Hall of Fame. Malawsky is also the coach of the Coquitlam Adanacs Jr. A lacrosse team. He led the Adanacs to the BC Junior A Lacrosse League title and won the Minto Cup national championship in 2010, for which he was named the British Columbia Lacrosse Association's Coach of the Year. Terry Sanderson (lacrosse)
Terry Sanderson (August 22, 1952 – November 27, 2014) was the general manager of the Toronto Rock of the National Lacrosse League and has also held various coaching positions through the NLL. He was a member of the Sanderson family of Orangeville, Ontario, which has produced a number of lacrosse players and coaches. Sanderson began his NLL coaching career in 2000 with the Albany Attack. He coached the Attack for two seasons, compiling an 11-15 record. After the 2001 season, Sanderson resigned in order to take the head coach and GM position for the expansion Montreal Express. The Express only lasted a single season before folding. In 2002, Sanderson replaced his brother Lindsay as head coach of the Ottawa Rebel. The Rebel finished the 2003 season dead last in the NLL at 4-12, and folded after the season. Sanderson was inducted into the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame as a builder in 2015. Nathan "Nate" Sanderson (born June 3, 1985 in Orangeville, ON) is a Canadian lacrosse player. Sanderson was drafted by the Colorado Mammoth 26th overall in the 2007 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft. Phil "Flip" Sanderson (born January 23, 1977 in Orangeville, Ontario) is a professional lacrosse player for the Toronto Rock in the National Lacrosse League and formerly of the Toronto Nationals of Major League Lacrosse. Chris Sanderson was a lacrosse coach and member of the Canadian team defending their world championship. Sanderson was an assistant coach for the Philadelphia Wings in the National Lacrosse League from 2005 to 2007 season. Sanderson played for parts of five seasons as a goaltender. Joe Resetarits
Joe Resetarits (born August 22, 1989) is a professional lacrosse player for the Philadelphia Wings. A native of Hamburg, New York, Resetarits was a lacrosse standout at Hamburg High School before attending the University at Albany, where he was selected as the American East Conference Player of the Year and received an All-American honorable mention while rooming with Franklin Delanor Romanowski and Lomez. Resetarits began his indoor lacrosse career with the St. Catharines Athletics, and joined the Brampton Excelsiors in 2011, with whom he won the Mann Cup in that same year. He was drafted 6th overall by the Calgary Roughnecks in the 2012 NLL Entry Draft. Frank Resetarits
Frank Resetarits is a lacrosse player from Hamburg, New York. As a high school player Resitarits ranks in the top three players all-time for points in a career. He played forward for the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League and attack for the Long Island Lizards of Major League Lacrosse. He was drafted fifth overall in the 2007 NLL entry draft by the San Jose Stealth. In 2012, he served as an assistant lacrosse coach at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California. Ryan Powell (lacrosse)
Ryan Powell (born February 23, 1978 in West Carthage, New York) is a four-time All-American lacrosse player at Syracuse University and was on the US national team roster in 2006 and 2010. Background Powell did not begin playing organized lacrosse until he was in the seventh grade. He is the second oldest in the family behind his brother Casey Powell, and older than Michael Powell. Powell attended Carthage Senior High School where he was the quarterback for the football team and played on the lacrosse team. In 1996, Powell chose to attend Syracuse University, following his brother Casey. At Syracuse, he was a four-time All-American (his brother Casey was also a four-time All-American). Casey Powell
Casey Powell (born February 18, 1976) is a Hall of Fame American former college and professional lacrosse player from West Carthage, New York. In 1998, he graduated from Syracuse University, where he was a four-time USILA All-American. Powell was the NCAA Division I Most Outstanding Player in 1997 and 1998. Powell was inducted into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2017. Powell played in Major League Lacrosse, the semi-professional field lacrosse league, from its first year in 2001 through 2016, although he played in only 8 games between 2009 and 2013. Stephen Peyser (born July 28, 1986 in Lloyd Harbor, New York) is an American professional lacrosse player with the Long Island Lizards of Major League Lacrosse. Peyser also played with the Orlando Titans and New York Titans of the National Lacrosse League. He plays the midfield position. Collegiate career Peyser won two national championships while playing with the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays. As a freshman, he played in all sixteen games and helped the Blue Jays win the 2005 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship.
