The island of Aruba is one of the constituent countries of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the southern Caribbean Sea. Aruba has no administrative subdivisions, but, for census purposes, is divided into six districts, each of which has many neighbourhoods within it. Many of these neighbourhoods have names, but are not considered by the Aruban government to be separate political or administrative entities. The capital of Aruba is the city of Oranjestad. Paardenbaai
Paardenbaai (English: ''Bay of Horses'') or Port of Oranjestad is the main seaport for passengers in Aruba. It is located in Oranjestad, Aruba, Oranjestad and has existed since 1796. History In 1796, Fort Zoutman was constructed near Paardenbaai. It was a natural bay which was accessible to large ships. It was the second harbour on Aruba after Commandeurs Baai (Commander's Bay) in Savaneta. The bay later became known as Paardenbaai (Bay of Horses) because the harbour was mainly used to ship horses to Jamaica and other places. The village near the harbour had no name and was often referred to as Paardenbaai. In 1820, it was named Oranjestad, Aruba, Oranjestad. Hooiberg
Hooiberg is a high volcanic formation on the island of Aruba. It is located almost in the center of the island and can be seen from virtually anywhere on the island. The Dutch word ''hooiberg'', literally translates into ''haystack'' in English, as the landform is said to resemble a stack of hay. Bushiribana and Balashi are the sites of two former gold smelters on the Caribbean island of Aruba. Seroe Colorado
Seroe Colorado () is a village situated at the southeastern tip of Aruba, an island located in the Ductch Caribbean. Nowadays, it is known for the Anchor in Memory to All Seamen. Historically, between 1878 and 1914, Seroe Colorado served as the location for the Colorado Guano Mine, which was involved in the extraction of guano. Additionally, the Seroe Colorado Lighthouse can be found in this village, serving as a prominent landmark. Lago Colony
Lago Colony was a community located on the east end of the island of Aruba, near the area presently known as Seroe Colorado. The town consisted of 377 homes, a hospital, church, club house, bowling alley, and an American School, with first through twelfth grades and approximately 180 students. The population of Lago Colony was primarily from the United States, although there was a large population from England, Ireland, and Scotland who were primarily officers on the lake tanker fleet. In addition there were Dutch, Danish, Spanish and other nationalities represented in the community.
