Argentiera
Argentiera is a small town and a frazione (hamlet) in the comune of Sassari, in Sardinia, Italy. It is located 43 km from Sassari, in a narrow valley, on the coast of the Sardinian Sea. History Argentiera is a former mining town, its name comes from the Italian ''argento'', meaning silver. The mine had been exploited since the ancient era, beginning with the Romans. It was reopened in the 19th century by "Società di Corr'e boi", a Belgian mining company. The French writer Honoré de Balzac, visited the village in 1838. The most florid period for the mining village was the 1940s. The town declined after World War II, and the mine was closed in 1963. Today the town is the home of a few small businesses who get most of their income from tourism. Bisarcio
The Basilica di Sant'Antioco of Bisarcio is a countryside church near Chilivani, a ''frazione ''of Ozieri, Sardinia, Italy. Located on an isolated volcanic hill, it is one of the largest Romanesque churches in Sardinia. A Catholic diocese with seat in ''Bisarcium'', in what was then the giudicato of Torres (one of the four independent quasi-kingdoms in which Sardinia was divided) or ''Guisarchium'' is documented from 1065 to 1503, when it was annexed to that of Alghero. A first cathedral was built here in the late 11th century, but was later damaged by a fire, so that a document from 1139 suggests that the bishop had moved his seat to Ardara. The new cathedral was finished in 1174, when the two storey portico on the façade was completed. Today scanty remains of the medieval village of Bisarcio remain. Giants Tomb Island is an island with no permanent residents located in Southern Georgian Bay in Ontario, Canada. It measures approximately five kilometres from north to south and two kilometres from east to west. Location It is part of the Awenda Provincial Park close to Penetanguishene and Midland. Benetutti
Benetutti ( sc, Benetuti) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Sassari in the Italian region Sardinia, located about north of Cagliari and about southeast of Sassari. Several prehistorical archaeological remains have been discovered in its countryside. These include Giants' tombs (Bronze Age mass graves), Domus de Janas (hypogaean Neolithic graves) and several nuraghi. An example of Roman ruins is the bath-pool on Saint Saturnino's hot springs. Benetutti is known for its thermal sources, famous since ancient times and probably related to the name of the village, which could come from the Sardinian ''bena 'e tottu'', meaning "everyone's fountain". Su Nuraxi
Su Nuraxi is a nuraghe, nuragic archaeological site in Barumini, Sardinia, Italy. ''Su Nuraxi'' simply means "The Nuraghe" in Campidanese dialect, Campidanese, the southern variant of the Sardinian language. Su Nuraxi is a settlement consisting of a seventeenth century BC Nuraghe, a bastion of four corner towers plus a central one, and a village inhabited from the thirteenth to the sixth century BC, developed around the Nuraghe. They are considered by scholars the most impressive expression of the Nuragic civilization and were included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1997 as ''Su Nuraxi di Barumini''. Assemini (; sc, Assèmini ) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Cagliari in the Italian region Sardinia, located about northwest of Cagliari in the plain of the Cixerri, Flumini Mannu and Sa Nuxedda rivers.
