The Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Kyrgyzstan is the United Kingdom's foremost diplomatic representative in the Kyrgyz Republic, and head of the UK's diplomatic mission in Bishkek. The official title is ''His Britannic Majesty's Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic''. From the break-up of the Soviet Union in December 1991 until 2012 the ambassador to Kazakhstan also served concurrently as the non-resident Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan. Bishkek
Bishkek ( ky, Бишкек), ), formerly Pishpek and Frunze, is the capital and largest city of Kyrgyzstan. Bishkek is also the administrative centre of the Chüy Region. The region surrounds the city, although the city itself is not part of the region but rather a region-level unit of Kyrgyzstan. Bishkek is situated near the Kazakhstan–Kyrgyzstan border. Its population was 1,074,075 in 2021. In 1825, the Khanate of Kokand established the fortress of Pishpek to control local caravan routes and to collect tribute from Kyrgyz tribes. Dual accreditation is the practice in diplomacy of a country granting two separate responsibilities to a single diplomat. Almazbek Sharshen uluu Atambayev ( ky, Алмазбек Шаршен уулу Атамбаев, translit=Almazbek Şarşen uulu Atambayev; born 17 September 1956) is a Kyrgyz politician who served as the President of Kyrgyzstan from 1 December 2011 to 24 November 2017.
