Kerala state has four operational international airports as of 2019 and is the only Indian state to have four international airports along with Tamil Nadu. Kerala is also the only state with the closest proximity to multiple international/domestic airports in the country. All four international airports lie in very close proximity, which makes it easy for all the people in Kerala to access air travel. The state also has four defence airports that are widely used by the Indian Armed Forces. Kerala
Kerala ( ; ) is a state on the Malabar Coast of India. It was formed on 1 November 1956, following the passage of the States Reorganisation Act, by combining Malayalam-speaking regions of the erstwhile regions of Cochin, Malabar, South Canara, and Thiruvithamkoor. Sabarimala Airport
Sabarimala Greenfield Airport , also known as Kottayam Airport, Believers' Church Airport or Cheruvally Estate Airport, is a proposed greenfield international airport, which will serve the cities of Kottayam and Alappuzha and the famous pilgrimage site of Sabarimala in the state of Kerala, India. The airport will be built in between the towns of Erumeli South and Manimala, nearby to the larger neighbouring towns of Cheruvally and Ranni. The nearest town with a railway station is Thiruvalla (34 km). The proposed site is 53.9 km away from Sabarimala temple and 9.2 km away from Kanjirappally town. Pathanamthitta is the closest major town from the proposed site, about 25 km away, while Kottayam is about 44 km away. The site is spread over of area. Kottayam
Kottayam () is a municipal town in the Indian state of Kerala. Flanked by the Western Ghats on the east and the Vembanad Lake and paddy fields of Kuttanad on the west. It is the district headquarters of Kottayam district, located in south-west Kerala. Travancore Kingdom
The Kingdom of Travancore ( /ˈtrævənkɔːr/), also known as the Kingdom of Thiruvithamkoor, was an Indian kingdom from c. 1729 until 1949. It was ruled by the Travancore Royal Family from Padmanabhapuram, and later Thiruvananthapuram. Kollam Airport
Quilon Aerodrome or Kollam Airport was an aerodrome in the city of Kollam in the former state of Travancore, now in Kerala, India. During the 1920s, there were no other civil aerodromes in the kingdoms of Cochin, Travancore and the Malabar District at the time of the British ruled Madras Presidency. With the commissioning of Trivandrum International Airport in 1932 at state capital to the south, the aerodrome fell into disuse and came to be known as the Asramam Maidan. The landing strip of the aerodrome was strengthened with red laterite soil from the adjoining hills because the local loose soil was unsuitable for the purpose. Kollam
Kollam (), also known by its former name Quilon , is an ancient seaport and city on the Malabar Coast of India bordering the Laccadive Sea, which is a part of the Arabian Sea. It is north of the state capital Thiruvananthapuram. The city is on the banks of Ashtamudi Lake and the Kallada river. It is the headquarters of the Kollam district. INS Garuda
INS Garuda , is an Indian naval air station located in Kochi, in the state of Kerala. Commissioned on 11 May 1953, it is the oldest operating air station of the Indian Navy. The air station is adjacent to INS Venduruthy and the headquarters of Southern Naval Command. INS Garuda is a major naval air training centre as well as an operational base.
