After the creation of the ''Warhammer Fantasy'' universe by Games Workshop, novels were published by GW Books and Boxtree Limited, but subsequently novels have been published by the Black Library, including translations to French and German. More than 150 novels were set in the shared universe of ''Warhammer Fantasy'' between 1989 and 2015. Alexander Michael Stewart (born 25 July 1958) is a British writer. His best known work is fiction written under the pseudonym Sandy Mitchell—Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 novels, including the Ciaphas Cain series. A full-time writer since the mid-1980s, the majority of his work (as Sandy Mitchell) has been tie-in fiction for Games Workshop's Warhammer fantasy and Warhammer 40,000 science fiction lines, as well as a novelisation of episodes from the high tech thriller series Bugs, for which he also worked as a scriptwriter under his real name. Jonathan Green is a freelance writer. James Wallis (games Designer)
James Wallis is a British designer and publisher of tabletop and role-playing games. He is not to be confused with Myriador's Jamie Wallis, who converted ''Steve Jackson's Sorcery!'' into d20 modules. Career James Wallis began roleplaying in 1981 through ''Dungeons & Dragons'' and '' Traveller'', which were both licensed in the UK by Games Workshop at the time. Dan Abnett (born 12 October 1965) is an English comic book writer and novelist. He has been a frequent collaborator with fellow writer Andy Lanning, and is known for his work on books for both Marvel Comics, and their UK imprint, Marvel UK, since the 1990s, and also ''2000 AD (comics), 2000 AD''. The David Gemmell Awards for Fantasy, established in memory of David Gemmell, were awarded from 2009 to 2018. In 2009, only the Legend Award for best fantasy novel was awarded. Beginning in 2010 the Morningstar Award for Best Fantasy Newcomer and the Ravenheart Award for Best Fantasy Cover Art were added. The award was closed in 2019.
