List Of United States Navy Vice Admirals Since 2020
This is a list of vice admirals in the United States Navy since 2020. The rank of vice admiral (or ''three-star admiral'') is the second-highest rank normally achievable in the U.S. Navy, and the first to have a specified number of appointments set by statute. It ranks above rear admiral (''two-star admiral'') and below admiral (''four-star admiral''). There have been 32 vice admirals in the U.S. Navy since January 1, 2020, one of whom was promoted to four-star admiral. All 32 achieved that rank while on active duty in the U.S. Navy. Admirals entered the Navy via several paths: 18 were commissioned via Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) at a civilian university, nine via the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), two via Officer Candidate School (OCS), two via Aviation Officer Candidate School (AOCS), and one via the California State University Maritime Academy (CSU Maritime). Massachusetts Maritime Academy
Massachusetts Maritime Academy (Mass Maritime) is a public university in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts, focused on maritime-related fields. It was established in 1891 and is the second oldest state maritime academy in the United States. Originally established to graduate deck and engineering officers for the U.S. Merchant Marine, the academy has since expanded its curriculum. United States Sixth Fleet
The Sixth Fleet is a numbered fleet of the United States Navy operating as part of United States Naval Forces Europe. The Sixth Fleet is headquartered at Naval Support Activity Naples, Italy. The officially stated mission of the Sixth Fleet in 2011 is that it "conducts the full range of Maritime Operations and Theater Security Cooperation missions, in concert with coalition, joint, interagency, and other parties, in order to advance security and stability in Europe and Africa." Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) is an Echelon II shore command responsible for all shore installations under the control of the United States Navy. As an Echelon II command, it reports directly to the Chief of Naval Operations. It is responsible for the operation and management of all Naval installations worldwide through eleven Navy regions.
