The following is a list of soundtracks from the animated television series ''The Powerpuff Girls'', created by Craig McCracken, which ran on Cartoon Network from November 18, 1998, to March 25, 2005. The releases include 2000's ''Heroes & Villains'', 2001's ''The City of Soundsville'', and 2003's ''Power Pop''. All three albums were released by Rhino Entertainment. ''Heroes & Villains'' Produced by Mark Mothersbaugh and Bob Casale of Devo, ''The Powerpuff Girls: Heroes & Villains: Music Inspired by The Powerpuff Girls'' was released on July 18, 2000, on CD and audio cassette. The songs are connected by spoken interludes (recorded by the show's voice cast) to form a loose storyline in which the girls mobilize to stop Mojo Jojo from destroying Townsville. Each band wrote a song about a character, each of them based on "an assignment regarding which part of the story their song would illustrate." ''The Powerpuff Girls'' is an American superhero animated television series created by animator Craig McCracken and produced by Hanna-Barbera (later Cartoon Network Studios) for Cartoon Network and distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic Television. The show centers on Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, three kindergarten-aged girls with superpowers. The girls all live in the fictional city of Townsville with their father and creator, a scientist named Professor Utonium, and are frequently called upon by the city's mayor to help fight nearby criminals and other enemies using their powers. While attending his second year at CalArts in 1992, series creator Craig McCracken created a short film, ''Whoopass Stew!'', about a trio of child superheroes called the ''Whoopass Girls'', which was only shown at festivals. , also known by his moniker , is a Japanese musician and producer who co-founded Flipper's Guitar, an influential Shibuya-kei band, and subsequently embarked on a solo career. In 1997, he released the album '' Fantasma'', which landed him praise from American music critics, who called him a "modern-day Brian Wilson" or the "Japanese Beck". In 2007, ''Rolling Stone Japan'' named two of Oyamada's albums amongst the "100 Greatest Japanese Rock Albums of All Time", with ''Fantasma'' ranking in 10th place and ''Camera Talk'' by Flipper's Guitar ranking in 35th place. The Sugarplastic
The Sugarplastic is an American alternative rock band founded in Los Angeles, California, in 1989. History Founding members Ben Eshbach and Kiara Geller met in the late 1980s. Geller, who was still learning to play bass at the time, was impressed by Eshbach's guitar playing and encouraged him to form a band. The two bonded over similar tastes in music and began jamming informally with drummer Josh Laner in December 1989. The trio rehearsed in a local appliance store owned by Laner's father and went through a multitude of names before finally settling on ''The Sugarplastic''. After failing to find a suitable lead singer, the band played only instrumentals for its first year of existence until Eshbach stepped up to sing. Bis ( ) (stylised as bis) are a Scottish indie pop band composed of Steven Clark (Sci-Fi Steven), John Clark (John Disco), and Amanda MacKinnon (Manda Rin), formed in 1994. Dressy Bessy is an indie rock band from Denver, Colorado led by songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist, Tammy Ealom. The band is associated with the Elephant Six Recording Company and shares guitarist John Hill with The Apples in Stereo. Ealom formed the band with drummer Darren Albert and bassist Rob Greene in 1996. Hill joined the band after helping engineer early recordings in 1997. Shonen Knife is a Japanese pop-punk band formed in Osaka in 1981. Charles Michael Kittridge Thompson IV (born April 6, 1965) is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He is best known as the frontman of the alternative rock band Pixies, with whom he performs under the stage name Black Francis. Stephen Donald Rucker (born June 27, 1949) is an American composer. Rucker studied piano with M. Mendelsohn of the Paris Conservatory. He has composed and conducted for the London Symphony Orchestra in the animated film, '' Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland'', with Thomas Chase.''
