Sourcebooks * Four digit numbers were published by FASA Corporation, FASA; sometimes prefixed by "FAS" * Five digit numbers were published by: **Fantasy Productions, FanPro: 106××, 250××, and 2600×; sometimes prefixed with "FPR" **Catalyst Game Labs, Catalyst: 26×××, with the third digit specifying the book type; 0 for core rulebooks, 1 for core supplements, 2 for settings (locations), 3 for general sourcebooks, 4 for Adventure, 6 for Rules Supplement, 7 for premium, 8 for fiction and 9 for misc; sometimes prefixed with "CAT", "CGL" or "CYT" Core rulebooks and supplements are primarily composed of rules, and tend to be replaced quickly when a new edition of the game is released. ''Shadowrun'' is a science fantasy tabletop role-playing game set in an alternate future in which cybernetics, magic and fantasy creatures co-exist. It combines genres of cyberpunk, urban fantasy and crime, with occasional elements of conspiracy, horror and detective fiction. From its inception in 1989, ''Shadowrun'' has remained among the most popular role-playing games. It has spawned a vast franchise that includes a series of novels, a collectible card game, two miniature-based tabletop wargames, and multiple video games. ''Seattle Sourcebook'' is a supplement published by FASA in 1990 for the near-future dystopian role-playing game '' Shadowrun'' . Contents ''Seattle Sourcebook'' is a campaign setting supplement which details the neighborhoods, government, economy, and main corporations of Seattle in the year 2050, and how they interconnect with each other. Publication history ''Seattle Sourcebook'' was written by Boy F. Petersen, Jr., with a cover by Dana Knutson, and was published by FASA in 1990 as a 176-page book with a foldout map. Shannon Appelcline noted that in the early 1990s, "''Shadowrun'' was supported by over a dozen supplements each year—some of which were quite well-received, such as ''Seattle Sourcebook'' (1990), one of the first extensive RPG descriptions of a modern city, and Nigel Findley's adventure, ''The Universal Brotherhood'' (1990)." ''Harlequin'' is an adventure campaign published by FASA in 1990 for the near-future dystopian role-playing game '' Shadowrun''. Description ''Harlequin'' is a 151-page book designed by Tom Dowd, Ken St. Andre, John Faughnan, W. G. Armintrout, Jerry Epperson, Paul R. Hume, Lester W. Smith, and James L. Long. The various adventures in the book are specifically designed to be interspersed between other adventures, rather than being run sequentially, so that the players don't immediately realize there's a connection between the various adventures. The ultimate result or consequence of the missions is not revealed in this book, even to the gamemaster. ''Dreamchipper'' is an adventure published by FASA in 1989 for the cyberpunk near-future role-playing game '' Shadowrun''. Publication history ''Dreamchipper'' is an 80-page book written by James D. Long, with a cover by Dave Dorman, and published by FASA in 1989. Plot summary Several prototype military grade personality chips programmed with the recorded personalities of Jack the Ripper, Cleopatra, and Genghis Khan have been stolen. The shadowrunners (the player characters) are hired to retrieve the chips. Reception In the April 1990 edition of ''Dragon'' (Issue #156), Ken Rolston called this "good, gritty cyberpunk, well organized and entertaining, with a solid action-adventure story line." Rolston complimented the adventure for being broken into short and manageable episodes, and also for allowing enough leeway to allow for the players' "characterization and divergent problem solving." ''Mercurial'' is an adventure published by FASA in 1989 for the near-future cyberpunk role-playing game ''Shadowrun''. Plot summary The adventure is set in Seattle in 2050. The Runners are hired to protect the rock star Maria Mercurial from her former manager, who apparently wants to harm her after she broke their contract. Soon it becomes clear that this is not a simple bodyguarding gig, as first a Yakuza gang and then a second group appears, and details of Maria's unhappy past begin to surface.
