This is a list of fictional characters featured in the ''Pokémon Adventures'' manga. Pokédex holders Kanto Pokédex holders Red is a Trainer who starts off in Pallet Town as an aspiring trainer with a Poliwhirl which later evolves into Poliwrath. He is very cocky, believing himself to be superior to his peers and claiming to not need any help at the beginning of his journey, though he later learns his lesson. He starts his Pokémon journey with a Bulbasaur he receives from Professor Oak, which eventually evolves into Ivysaur and later Venusaur. He is rivals with Professor Oak's grandson, Blue. Early on, he catches a Pikachu (later named “Pika”) who becomes his main Pokémon in later arcs. In the first arc, Red suffers his first overwhelming defeat when he fails to capture the mysterious Mew, leading him to Professor Oak for advice on becoming a better Pokémon trainer. Pokémon Adventures
is a Japanese manga series based on the '' Pokémon'' media franchise created by video game designer Satoshi Tajiri and managed by The Pokémon Company. Tajiri once stated that the series is closest to how he imagined the universe of ''Pokémon'' to be. The series is written by Hidenori Kusaka. Mato was the illustrator for the first nine volumes. When Mato became ill and was unable to continue illustrating the series, Satoshi Yamamoto took over as the illustrator and still continues as the series' artist. ''Pokémon Adventures'' is translated into English in North America by Viz Media. As of January 2022, 56 volumes have been released, along with five pairs of mini-volumes depicting the "Black & White", "X & Y", "OmegaRuby & AlphaSapphire", "Sun & Moon", and "Sword & Shield" arc. Squirtle
Squirtle (), known as in Japan, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's '' Pokémon'' franchise. It was designed by Atsuko Nishida. Its name was changed from Zenigame to Squirtle during the English localization of the series in order to give it a "clever and descriptive name." Its name is composed of squir- from squirt and -tle from Turtle. In animated appearances, Squirtle is voiced in Japanese by Rikako Aikawa and in English localizations by Eric Stuart, and later Michele Knotz. Squirtle, in the anime, never evolved for reasons which are never truly explained by the creators. In the main series games, Squirtle can evolve into Wartortle at level 16 or 14 depending what game you are playing, which can further evolve into Blastoise at level 36 or 34. Charmander (), known as in Japan, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo's and Game Freak's ''Pokémon'' franchise. Created by Atsuko Nishida, Charmander first appeared in the video games ''Pokémon Red'' and ''Blue'' and subsequent sequels, later appearing in various merchandise, spinoff titles, and various movies, animated and printed adaptations of the franchise. The end of a Charmander's tail is alight with a flame, and the flame's size reflects both the physical health and the emotions of the individual. It is known as the Lizard Pokemon.
