Palm OS
Palm OS (also known as Garnet OS) was a mobile operating system initially developed by Palm, Inc., for personal digital assistants (PDAs) in 1996. Palm OS was designed for ease of use with a touchscreen-based graphical user interface. It is provided with a suite of basic applications for Personal information manager, personal information management. Later versions of the OS have been extended to support smartphones. Handera
HandEra (formally TRG) was a manufacturer, software developer, and service contractor. HandEra's business previously revolved around Palm OS, and devices running Palm OS. The company's headquarters were in Des Moines, Iowa. Products TRGpro HandEra's first handheld was the TRGpro. At the time of production HandEra was under the name TRG. The TRGpro was made to compete with Palm, Inc.'s Palm III Series. The TRGpro ran Palm OS 3.3, and provided a competitive edge over the Palm III with a built-in loudspeaker, as well as a Compact Flash slot for expansion. The CF card slot supported both memory expansion cards, as well as I/O accessories such as modems, network and barcode scanner cards. Palm III
The Palm III is a personal digital assistant that was made by the Palm Computing division of 3Com. It went on sale in 1998 as a replacement for the PalmPilot handheld. It was the first Palm handheld to support infrared file transfer and a Flash ROM-capable operating system. At release, the Palm III was priced at US$400. Design and features At first glance, the most notable difference between the Palm III and its predecessor, the PalmPilot, is the more rugged and streamlined case. Other differences include a removable hard cover to protect the screen, removal of the memory door, a more recessed contrast adjustment knob, an infrared port, and a battery door less prone to accidentally falling off. WorkPad 20X
IBM WorkPad was a line of portable devices, produced by Palm, Inc., Palm Inc. and branded by IBM. This line contained personal digital assistants (PDAs) and one subnotebook model (WorkPad Z50). Overview This line was released in 1997 and discontinued in 2002. After discontinuation of its self-branded line, IBM still offers the main Palm line on its site. This IBM-branded line of PDAs were rebranded PalmPilots, with only a few software improvements (easy sync for HCL Domino, Lotus Notes, IBM Db2, DB2 EveryPlace, and IBM Mobile Connect). PalmPilot
The PalmPilot Personal and PalmPilot Professional are the second generation of Palm PDA devices produced by Palm Inc (then a subsidiary of U.S. Robotics, later 3Com). These devices were launched on March 10, 1997. Accessories and pricing Palm also sold the 10201U modem at 14.4 kbit/s, introduced at a price of $129 (this modem is also compatible with the Palm III and Palm IIIx devices). An upgrade kit was also available, which allowed users of the earlier Pilot 1000/5000 devices to upgrade the OS, ROM, and RAM to match the PalmPilot Professional. Initially suggested retail prices upon launch were $399 for the PalmPilot Professional (1MB), $299 for the PalmPilot Personal (512KB), and $199 for the Upgrade Kit. Treo 600
Treo 600 was a smartphone developed by Handspring, and offered under the palmOne brand (later Palm, Inc.) after the merger of the two companies. Released in November 2003, it has a number of integrated features and it is possible to check the calendar while talking on the phone, dial directly from contacts list, take pictures or send emails. It includes a five-way navigation button and favorites screen allowing quick access to the phone functions. On October 24, 2004, palmOne officially unveiled the Treo 600's successor, the Treo 650. Design The Treo 600 is a rather large device by cell phone standards but compact for a PDA. Treo 180
The Treo 180 is a dual-band GSM smartphone made by Handspring. Released in 2002, it was the first device in the Treo family. Internet access was available using the Blazer browser. It features a full keyboard and shipped with Palm OS version 3.5.2H. The 180 has a 160x160 monochrome screen, 16 MB of internal memory and a 33 MHz Dragonball CPU. Treo 90
The Treo 90 is a Palm OS PDA developed by Handspring. It was released on May 28, 2002. The Treo 90 was the only Treo model produced without an integrated cellular phone. When first released it was the smallest Palm OS device on the market. Design The Treo 90 features a 12-bit standard (160x160) resolution color super-twisted nematic display, LED backlighting, a miniature QWERTY keyboard that replaces the usual Graffiti on other PDAs, an infrared port and an SD card slot. ROM update The original Palm OS (4.1H) lacks SDIO support and reportedly has trouble formatting 128 megabyte SanDisk cards. The Treo 90 Updater addresses this problem and adds some other edits.
