List Of Oregon Community Colleges
This is a list of colleges and universities in the U.S. state of Oregon. Seven public universities, overseen by the Oregon Office of University Coordination, are operated by boards appointed by the governor, and seventeen community colleges are operated by locally elected boards. There are also numerous private degree-granting institutions. The oldest college is Willamette University, which was established 1842, and is the oldest university in the Western United States. Central Oregon Community College (COCC) was founded in 1949 as part of the Bend School District and is the longest standing community college in Oregon. The COCC College District was formed in 1959 and officially established as the Central Oregon Area Education District by a vote of residents in 1962. Disciples Of Christ
The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is a mainline Protestant Christian denomination in the United States and Canada. Bushnell University
Bushnell University is a Private university, private Christianity, Christian university in Eugene, Oregon. It is historically affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the Christian churches and churches of Christ. The institution was renamed from Northwest Christian University in 2020. Portland Bible College (PBC) is a four-year Bible college in Portland, Oregon, United States that offers theological and church ministry degrees. It was founded in 1967 and is associated with Mannahouse Church, which is associated with Ministers Fellowship International. The campus is adjacent to Mannahouse Church on Rocky Butte in northeast Portland. Accreditation Portland Bible College has degree granting status from the State of Oregon, the State of Washington and the State of California. For-profit University
Proprietary colleges are for-profit colleges and universities. They are operated by their owners or investors, rather than a not-for-profit institution, religious organization, or government. Because they are not funded by tax money, their long-term sustainability is dependent on the value they provide relative to the perceived value of a degree from a higher educational institution overall. The increased reliance on federal student aid funds by these "for-profit" schools is of growing concern. Since federal student loans are typically guaranteed by the government, for-profit colleges can reap a profit from taxpayers even if students drop out after enrolling, do not complete a degree, or the degree turns out to be nearly worthless for future employment. The Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, or simply the Carnegie Classification, is a framework for classifying colleges and universities in the United States. It was created in 1970 by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Indiana University's Center for Postsecondary Research manages the classification system with the exception of the voluntary Classification on Community Engagement which is managed by the Public Purpose Institute at Albion College.
