Canoeing is an activity which involves paddling a canoe with a single-bladed paddle. Common meanings of the term are limited to when the canoeing is the central purpose of the activity. Stefan Pfannmöller (born 4 December 1980, in Halle an der Saale) is a German slalom canoeist who competed at the international level from 1997 to 2007. Competing in two Summer Olympics, he won a bronze medal in the C1 event in Athens in 2004. Pfannmöller also won five medals at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships with a gold (C1 team: 2006), three silvers (C1 team: 1999, 2002, 2005), and a bronze (C1: 2003). Canoeing At The 2024 Summer Olympics
Canoeing at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris are scheduled to run across two main disciplines: canoe slalom, to take place from 27 July to 5 August, and canoe sprint, from 6 to 10 August. Both canoe slalom and sprint events will be staged at the National Olympic Nautical Stadium of Île-de-France in Vaires-sur-Marne. Similar to the previous editions, the competition will feature sixteen events with several significant changes to the program lineup. The men's C-2 and K-2 1000 metres will be replaced with half of its distance, the men's C-2 and K-2 500 metres, to align with the women's side of the program. Lukáš Rohan
Lukáš Rohan (; born 30 May 1995) is a Czech slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2010. He is from Mělník, Czech Republic but lives and trains in Prague. Lukáš now competes solely in the C1 discipline, however he competed in the C2 discipline alongside Adam Svoboda and Martin Říha at different times between 2010 and 2015. He is coached by his father, Olympic silver medallist Jiří Rohan. Rohan won a silver medal in the C1 event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. He also won a silver medal in the C1 team event at the 2021 World Championships in Bratislava. Benjamin Savšek (born 24 March 1987) is a Slovenian slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2002. He won eight medals at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships with two golds (C1: 2017, C1 team: 2022), three silvers (C1: 2014, 2015, C1 team: 2018) and three bronzes (C1: 2013, C1 team: 2014, 2015). Canoeing At The 2020 Summer Olympics
Canoeing at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo was contested in two main disciplines: canoe slalom, to take place from 25 to 30 July 2021, and canoe sprint, from 2 to 7 August. The slalom competitions will be held at the Kasai Canoe Slalom Course; whereas the sprint events will be staged at Sea Forest Waterway. The competition featured 16 events. The programme saw four event changes, all replacements, from 2016. In sprint, the men's C-1 200 metres and men's K-2 200 metres were replaced with women's C-1 200 metres and women's C-2 500 metres. In slalom, the men's C-2 was removed. Women's C-1 was added. These three changes were part of the Olympics' move towards gender equality. Takuya Haneda
is a Japanese male slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2002. He won a bronze medal in the C1 event at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, becoming the first Asian canoeist to win an Olympic medal. He also won a gold medal in the C1 event at the 2014 Asian Games. Haneda participated in four Olympic Games. At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing he was eliminated in the qualifying round of the C1 event finishing in 14th place. Canoeing at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro was contested in two main disciplines: canoe slalom, from 7 to 11 August, and canoe sprint, from 15 to 20 August.
